Yeah, they are all marked with the red clearance tags, but the price says $17.48. I checked them on the price scanner though and they did ring up at $12.48. Seems like a good deal to me, so yeah, I may grab one.

Ugh...I bought nine more Maul Bp's last night @ $6 a pop, I really should seek help.

All this talk about the death of the line is creating a hoarding impulse I think. Not to mention it's just a great BP that's hard to resist at that awesome price.

Was hoping to customize some Talzins into generic nightsisters but that looks like it is going to be too hard.

Lots of the Snaggletooth 3-packs have hit $12.48 here...I'm debating picking a few up, but not sure if they will go lower or not. Did not think to check if the figures have gone down further as well, but based on reports around the internet it seems they are.

I know brother, believe me I know.

I can feel the Stark Fist of Removal hanging over everything right now...I'm bracing.

I only want Dr. Ball Medical Droid if he comes with Oola and Hot Tub.

"This is a flu shot!"

I just hope they have solid articulation and cool figure choices.  And that there's enough distribution for people to find what they want. The inability to find what I want at retail is really the only thing that has me wanting to jump ship on collecting.  I don't mind paying for quality stuff, but I do mind having to buy two full cases over the internet just to get my four new figures.

Personally, I could kind of care less about the launch price point.  People were up in arms about $10-11 prices not so long ago, but how many BOGO and BOGO50 sales have we seen in just the last year?  They won't sell much at that price, so we'll start seeing sales and internet discounts...maybe even more TJ Maxx and 5 Below deals over the long haul.  I don't want to overpay, but even if they come out at >$10, we'll be able to find them for less than that if we're a little patient.

+1

First and foremost, I have to be able to find stuff in stores. It all starts there for me.

I also worry that Hasbro will be spread too thin with a new 6" line, 3&3/4 black series, Movie Heroes, and whatever the hell they decide to do with Clone Wars...

I feel like those Batman figures were on two kinds of cards...mini-cards for places like 5 Below and the Dollar Store, and more standard size cards for Walmart, etc. I admittedly don't pay that much attention though.

So what will the line look be for the Clone Wars line post-Yoda packaging?

My patience finally paid off...the Darth Maul Returns BP's have officially hit 70% at seemingly all the Targets around here. I bought four more yesterday @ $5.98 a pop, which cleaned out most of the stores around here that only had 1 left, but there is still one store I know with a good 15-20 of these at least. I'm seriously considering buying all of them. It's a great set, and $2 a figure is sort of my "all-in" threshold. These would make for some nice customizing fodder, considering we may never get a proper Mother Talzin, Nightsister, Spider-Legs Maul, one-armed Oppress with 2 trimmed horns, Maul with Mando-robo-legs, etc etc.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6 Inch Figures?
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:05 PM »
The toon's on borrowed time IMO.  I'll be shocked if it has a future.  So TCW line's been on it for a while now I think, at least in the animated capacity.

I'm not so sure there wille ven be a dedicated TCW line.  Just a suspiscion on my part, but I think they'll maybe have a year left and phased out to something different or folded directly into the theoretical "Legends" sort of assortment of lowered articulation figures directly aimed at kids, and a lower price.  All just speculation though, of course.

I don't know that I'd say the show is on borrowed time so much as its fate is tied to a lot of other developing situations right now: syndication, the Disney acquisition, new media property looming in 2015, etc. The initial vision was for a five season run anyway, so even a truncated Season Six (which has been confirmed) is really gravy at this point. It's become easy to bash it recently, but you can't deny it generates some insane toy fodder!

Which brings us to the fate of the animated figure line. I mean yeah, it hasn't been trending in a positive direction for awhile now, but really, have any of the lines been performing well given all the problems the past few years? I see the issues as mostly driven by Hasbro themselves: poor figure selection, poor quality, increasing prices, questionable case packs, etc. I mean, if you wanted to kill a line, they have pretty much laid out the blueprint.

I still feel like Clone Wars toys can and will sell, so I don't feel like the line needs to fold by any stretch. Admittedly I have a strong collector bias here but the TCW deluxe sets and new figures never seem to last long. I also suspect there is some implied obligation for them to provide some sort of merchandising support for the show at least as long as it is airing. So I do think there's a good chance we could see the line continue at least through the end of this year, assuming that Season Six wraps by December as has been floated out there recently. Beyond that, who knows? Lucasfilm could say we want you to stop making toys from this continuity, similar to what they have done with the Tartakovsky shows.

If the dedicated TCW line does end, my one wish would be that any figures they trawl out later on would still be in an animated rather than realistic style. I don't see why it costs any more to release them in one style versus another, change the packaging to whatever you want. Don't care about the articulation much either, so even sticking them in the $6 kiddie line is fine with me as long as they are source-accurate. I realize this is probably a longshot though.

Yeah, I can appreciate the historical context, but I wouldn't go so far as to concede the source material was influenced by racism. Not sure Stan Lee would agree with that either. If anything, comics were more socially progressive in many ways than a lot of other mainstream media at the time. I just think they were reflective of a different society than what we have evolved into today is all.

It's like Disney trying to pretend "Song of the South" never happened...come on guys, I saw that movie in the theater! Are people really going to come after you with torches and pitchforks if you release it on DVD domestically?

I say it's all part and parcel of the whole, gotta embrace it warts and all.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Clone Wars - Season Six?

Hmmm, I choose Option E:

They didn't have it on their 2013 schedule because Season Six is actually running from July 2012-December 2012, as per the recent news out of UK Toy Fair. (I assume on Cartoon Network as we have heard nothing to indicate otherwise) This will include the lost Clovis arc and the rest of the episodes setting up the events of ROTS...

After that, all bets are off.

I wonder if this means the death knell for more "realistic styled" Clone Wars figures? (fingers crossed) Why bother doing a figure in a kiddie-aimed line that would probably have LESS articulation than its animated counterpart in the OTHER "kiddie-line"?

Unless of course there is soon only going to be just ONE kiddie line.

Damn, I wish I had not thought that out to its logical conclusion...

Dear Hollywood,

         Electro was a white guy

p.s. - So was Alicia Masters

         p.p.s - So was Kingpin

I applaud diversity as much as the next fella, but there is something to be said to staying faithful to the original source material. Jamie Foxx would make a kick-ass Luke Cage, or Black Panther. Or that cyborg dude from Teen Titans.

My, how the worm has turned. Maybe now we might see a little love for the one DEPENDABLE ongoing Star Wars media property, a little show I like to call The Clone Wars.

Sounds like we might have room for a Season Seven now!
