The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6 Inch Figures?
« on: January 29, 2013, 12:09 PM »
This is what makes me cringe:

"The Black Series appeals to those newbies who want to start a series from the start as well as those hardcore collectors who gobble up anything having to do with the words "Jedi" or "Empire" and "are looking for something new and their interest isn't as piqued by the 15th cantina alien we have yet to do," DePriest says. "We realize folks want their iconic characters delivered up in a new way."

I don't want my iconic characters delivered in a new way, and my interest IS piqued by the 15th Cantina alien, because WHY HAVEN'T YOU MADE THEM ALL BY NOW ANYWAY? It's been 36 years!

Oy vey.

I'm pretty sure Marvel Legends are cheaper than $20 a piece too.

Are there supposed to be pictures on that page? All I see is text...

I checked out the David figure over at BBTS this weekend and it looks really cool. Getting harder to resist this line, I must say.

I don't understand WTF "Deacon" is though? I probably forgot, but where is a tiny alien in the movie? Why did someone decide it needed a Christian name?

Hasbro, I'll make you a deal:

You make Clone Wars figures with 5 POA for $6 and I'll buy doubles of all of them.

My terms?

1) You must continue producing them in the source-accurate animated style

2) You must resume producing key supporting characters, IE: anyone with a speaking role in more than 4 episodes

Deal?  ;)

Sweet Jesus, i can't believe we wasted 4 tediously dragged-out episodes with Colonel Froglegs and then have to rush through all the total badassery like they have been doing. This could have easily been a 4 episode arc, and yeah I know there is one more to go but sheesh! It was like their whole epic crime spree occured in about twenty minutes, I mean literally.

It's hard not to dig on Clancy Brown, Sam Witwer and Jon Favreau throwing down...some A-list talent there. Adios Pre Vizsla, may your untimely exit not impede our chances for an updated animated figure this year!

That was a pretty sweet duel, no doubt, but I don't see why Maul just didn't just force choke him or whatever. Not good theatre I guess. I kept wondering "how does this guy keep going toe to toe with Maul when Kenobi was getting pwned last time?" I LOVE the Vorpal Saber too....man, that thing is sickly animated.

How cool are the freaking Pykes?!?! Damn, I want one of those now. Ditto Black Sun dudes, Bo Katan, etc ad infinitum...

If nothing else, it seems clear the show can be pretty freaking awesome with no clones, no Jedi. Hats off to Filoni for getting the groove back~

Glenn looks like a GI Joe figure in that outfit, I wonder why they went with comic version of the Gov vs TV version.

This whole wave is comic-themed, they alternate between producing separate waves of figures based on the comic and the show. I tend to prefer the TV-based ones, but these newest versions look awesome as well.

Count me in for one of each, no question...thanks for posting the new pics!

Saw Zero Dark Thirty Tonight with the wife...solid effort, strong performance by Miss Chastain. My favorite parts though were the supporting roles played by Andy from Parks and Recreation and Pete from The League. Nice to see those guys beefing up their resumes.

Oh yes, I finally found a Target today that had moved this to 70%, so I snagged the only one they had left for $5.98.  :) I am hoping the others follow suit this week because I know at least one location that still had 15-20 left gathering dust.

It's a chicken and egg argument to be sure. I'm sure retail malaise plays a part here too, but after that redonkulous TPM deluge how can you really blame them? And if retail really is the heart of the problem, why not just say so instead of shifting the blame straight to the consumer? And how does that prevent them from selling new toys on HTS.com?

Anyhoo, dead horse and all that.

Let's hope they don't repeat the same mistakes with the Feb 11th street date this year.

"We had a number of strong product initiatives, but consumer demand through much of the holiday season was less than anticipated in both the U.S. and certain international markets. As a result, fourth quarter revenues did not meet our expectations."

Yeah, all those awesome brand new GI JOE and Star Wars toys that came out around Christmas time just did not sell at all did they?

Oh wait, you guys didn't even bother putting anything new out. At all. You TOTALLY whiffed on X-Mas 2012. But yeah, blame it on consumer demand. How could people NOT rush out and buy all that old, played-out garbage?

Two words, Hasbro: Naboo Fighter.

I know it's easy to bash, but I swear it is amazing to me how this company is still in business as poorly as they seem to be run.

So I guess in Episode 9 Luke, Leia and Han are all reunited in a church and it turns out they were dead all along?

Jar Jar kicking back with a can of Slusho?

 ;)

Just cast that girl from Alcatraz, she would make a badass Jedi.

Season 6 is 100% confirmed courtesy of Jedi Uk Toy News Fair or whatever the heck that thing was over there. Funny thing is, the slide says it will run from July-December 2013. Huh?

I know TV seasons don't always coincide overseas, but that seems way early to me. I can't help but wonder if Cartoon Network will follow suit, or at least move up the normal schedule so we're not waiting til September.

I just hope this means more toys this year.

The Pinball game and marbles (Dagedar) aren't Hasbro products.

Ah, touche'...

After fighter pods and Angry Birds, I just assumed this was the next flight of fancy.

Nice, so everyone is accounted for at least...thanks Jeff, I had seen the individual carded photos in that thread but not the group shot. That is a bit of a relief.

Still, what a lackluster wave, I can already tell I am going to be sick of seeing these same guys on the pegs the rest of this year. Here's hoping we see a Wave 2 and beyond...

So far we seem to have unanimous agreement that the new line look is horrible. What the hell were they thinking? I swear to God they must have a bunch of monkeys running that place.

Pinball machines?!?! Freaking marbles?!?!

Did those guys just wake up from a 30 year coma?

This whole thing reeks of failure and desperation. Stop throwing good money after bad and chasing the next stupid fad...just concentrate on what you (used to) do well - making some damn action figures.
