I stopped by TRU over lunch and noticed they are running another Buy One Get One Half Price on all SW figures, playsets, and vehicles. Good for today and tomorrow only. (Fri & Sat, 3/30-3/31)

Absolutely nothing there worth buying though.

I was able to get the Scuba Clone mini-rig this morning at Walmart.  They also had the Anakin mini-rig, but I passed on that one for now.

Wow, I did not realize until this post that you are in fact RegJr over at RS. We are getting a lot of the same crew posting now in both forums, that's cool.

Great score!

Ordered the Castas Speed Bike from Kmart.com and got... the Castas speeder bike. I was happy.

How much?

I picked up the Walmart gift set for like $4 on clearance today.

How much is that TCW Deluxe set with Castas pictured there?

My Walmart has one too that they stubbornly insist on keeping at full price.  >:(

I saw a couple of the Astromech sets tonight out and about as well.

What is much harder to find is that Deleted Scene wave. Those do not seem to linger at all.

I want to know who these people are dropping 13K on an action figure.

I want to know what their background is, what they do for a living, if they are married, etc.

I spend some ridiculous $$$ on toys, but that is a whole other ballpark.

Good discussion, good points by all.

Re: customs, yeah, like Jesse, I am not really keen on people selling these, if it's something you do on your own for kicks, I don't have a problem but selling them seems like it crosses some kind of line, IMHO.

Re: Vlix, I didn't mean to make an exception in his case, I was only trying to think of an example of something I could easily imagine someone wanting but which is relatively unobtainable. But yeah, not down with the Vlix customs floating around out there either.

Re: unearthed warehouse of Yak-Faces - this is a great example of something I think would be awesome but I can definitely see irking some collectors. I'm not that guy though, if something happens like that I would only be happy for the people who scored. Possibly a little remorseful but definitely not bitter.

Ultimately I'm not sure how much I care about this stuff either, my vintage collection is more or less complete now, but in an abstract sense I guess I just hate the thought of new collectors having to struggle with this stuff as they try to build their collections. There's a lot to be mindful of unfortunately, with all the crap out there.

I can't help but disagree, I think any bootleg or unlicensed repro figure/accessory is a cheap abomination and they should all be banned like asbestos. It's someone exploiting the public and making money off someone else's intellectual property without paying them their fair due. Has nothing to do with elitism, IMO, just a desire to protect the integrity of the hobby and the largely unsuspecting public.

Some figures are going to command a premium, sure, but not everyone HAS to have everything, right? If you can't afford it, that's ok. I have never seen it as a competitive thing.

I guess I can understand people wanting to have a knock-off Vlix for kicks, but the risk and potential problems with stuff like that circulating is just too great. There are always going to be shady dirtbags who try to pass them off as the real thing, or at the very least are purposefully dubious about their origins.

If these things were officially licensed and clearly identifiable as modern reproductions, like the recent rocket firing Fett Hasbro did, that is another story. There's no chance of mistaking those for an original.

Just my two cents, as a true vintage enthusiast...there are some folks over at RS who take that stuff VERY seriously, which I'm sure will surprise no one.

Wow, just saw the new loose shots of these up at JTA, and boy do they SUCK.

Apparently "articulation" has fallen out of the Hasbro lexicon when it comes to this line. Swivel legs? No torso or wrist action? Bulky oversized helmets that are not even removable? Eesh.

And they didn't even fix Aayla's goofy face. :(

I've never felt LESS excited about this line, honestly. I barely even want to buy these things, much less pick up doubles for opening. I don't care about the characters, and to make it worse they're not even doing a competent job with the smal handful of figures they do pick to make.

Bleak year.

That bounty stuff does not bother me at all...that stuff has been going on for years, football is a violent, brutal game, and I don't have a problem with a guy trying to knock someone out of the game. You should be doing that on every play anyway without any financial incentives IMO.

I understand why they had to come down hard from a legal and liability standpoint, but it smacks of hypocrisy to me.

How exactly do you ban a coach for a year though? He can't have any contact with the team? That seems impossible to enforce.

I was able to pick up a Defend Kamino BP after work for $12.99 @ TJ MAXX. They also had a fresh case of the DVD sets. Good times.

Yep, LL is freaky swoll up, but he's a Jet now, so he's their problem.

I always liked him on the Skins, even when he was no-showing autograph signings or getting trucked by Brandon Jacobs, but you can't be throwing big money at a guy that cannot stay on the field.

RE: Tebow, sounds like it's down to the Jags or Jets. I don't think either of those are a great fit, but I'm sure one of them will take a chance. (Though I seriously doubt they can wrangle a 3rd Round pick for him as has been discussed)

I guess Rex and new OC Sparano love the wildcat, so he works for that. That locker room is a mess though, and NY is a mighty bright spotlight.

Jax is home turf but it sounds like it's the owner who really wants him, not the football guys, so that doesn't bode well. Plus they JUST drafted Gabbert last year, way too early to start closing the book on him.

LOL, Hasbro and their Cease and Desist nonsense.

You can't unring that bell now, dinguses. Once it's on the Internets, it's there forever!

I was just rereading your last sentence and laughed, in the last 4 months there was a giant Kree invasion in the pages of the Fantastic Four.  #600-604.

Yeah, I definitely would have missed that. I stopped collecting that book the day that John Byrne left. It will always be dead to me after that. I only need the first 5 issues to complete my collection too...so close!

What I think is hilarious is the way some people across the community are freaking out over the inconsistencies in how Walmart is handling Star Wars.  I mean, we are talking about WalMart here.  There's not a great level of standardization in how their stores operate.  We're not talking about Target, which runs a pretty tight ship nationally and manages their inventory ruthlessly.  We've only seen minimal Star Wars price glitches with Target in the past year or two.  WalMart is a mess in comparison, and has been for some time.

Yeah, if anything people should be happy that Walmart is such a logistical mess...it allows for some incredibly sweet deals like $4 Blu Ray figures and $8 deluxe sets, etc. It would be a lot harded to find those kind of loopholes at a TRU, for example.

Good luck with that.

I still don't get why they felt they need to jerk around with a team that is just coming off a solid run and some post-season success like they had. Why they are so desperate to run Tebow out of town? I get that the guy has a somewhat limited skill set but still, you beat the freaking Steelers last year!

Even worse is San Fran though - those guys were a play or two away from the Super Bowl! And you're ready to dump Smith who FINALLY got his act together and jump into bed with Manning? Now you could lose BOTH guys and be screwed royally. Serves them right.

Harbaugh has not made many missteps since taking over but that was a colossal one, IMO.
