The "off switch" is the cooling water.  You can't just stop a nuclear reaction.  This could be much, much worse.  At this point, there has not been a failure of the reactor containment.  Many of the building have been destroyed, but I don't think you build to withstand a 9.0 earthquake.

As luck would have it, I just got the email tonight...I was getting worried.

I'm beginning to think this might be my first wait list order not to go through.  I've had three previous to this one and they all got converted prior to the item shipping.  I have yet to hear anything...I would hate to have to go to ebay for this one.

Dropped my Yoda preorder, hoping me waitlist for the exclusive goes through. Didnt want to get stuck with the regular and the exclusive. Regular has not sold out yet so i can always just reorder it.

I've been waiting on my exclusive waitlist to go through as well.  I've been on the list since shortly after it sold out.

I believe some states will make you pay, but then you get a refund...it all depends on how each state collects taxes.  For example, if you live in state X, but work in state Y, you only have to pay tax to state X.  However, if states X and Y don't have some sort of tax agreement, your employer may have to take out taxes for both states and then at the end of the year you have to file in both states and get a refund from state Y.

When you uninstall iTunes, your entire library is still on your hard drive.  I can't say anything about download movies or TV shows, but all my podcasts automatically showed back up when I reinstalled iTunes as well as my music library.

I can barely keep up with Sideshow to even contemplate another line of 12" figures.  I guess they can get the license because they are based in Hong Kong.  I just wonder what it will do to the SS secondary market.

I am even more impressed with the fact that so few actors were changed throughout the films.  Dumbledore is the biggest one, but that couldn't have been helped.  The only casting change I can think of in this movie was Hermoine's parents who had a brief appearance in Chamber of Secrets.

Help me out here but wasn't the Young Tom Riddle two different actors as well?  The one from Chamber of Secrets should have been nearly the same age as the one in Slughorn's memory.

EDIT:  I just chedked IMBD and they were in fact different actors from the Chamber of Secrets and Half Blood Prince.  I suppose there could have been an age difference between the two Tom Riddle's but I still think they'd be nearly the same "age" in both memories/incarnations.  Of course since the movies were 6 years apart it may not have been practical to try and use the same actor again.

That is true, but as you said, it was quite hard to keep the same actor.  I think it works fine since I believe the HBP Riddle memory occurs before he created the diary horcrux and thus the Riddle we see in Chamber would be older than the one we see in HBP.  As for the overall series, the vast majority of the adult actors played the same roles throughout.

Another thing to look at is your carb intake.  Cutting back on the carbs helps a lot.  It also helps if you have high triglycerides (20% of your triglycerides is part of your total cholesterol count).  I have had high cholesterol in the past and using a diet to cut out fat lowered my bad cholesterol, but my triglycerides stayed pretty much the same.  Once I cut back the carbs, they went down drastically.  I'm 5'-9" and am now pushing 185-190 lbs again since I've fallen off the wagon.  Last time, I started at 198 lbs. and got down to about 165 lbs. over a year with diet and walking 40-50 minutes five or six times a week.  For the carbs, my dietitian said I should have 12 carb choices a day.  Each carb choice is 15 g of carbs.  Another useful item she taught was about food labels.  Besides the portion part (where even small items might actually contain one and a half to two servings per container) is how you can look at the total calories, carbs, fat etc.  Her advice was to avoid anything that had more than 5 g of fat per serving.  However, if you have a TV dinner that contains say chicken and pasta and has a total fat balance of 7 g, you are still ok since you have two different items, therefore, you can divide the total by two.

Radcliff has already broke out in a way with doing Equis on broadway.  Quite a different role for him.  Ruppert has done a few movies...I think they were all smaller films.  I think we will have to wait and see what the trio does after the last film has been released.  Regardless, they are all set for life.  With all the rumors that one or more were thinking of quitting, I bet they are happy they stuck with it at this point.  I am even more impressed with the fact that so few actors were changed throughout the films.  Dumbledore is the biggest one, but that couldn't have been helped.  The only casting change I can think of in this movie was Hermoine's parents who had a brief appearance in Chamber of Secrets.

You will certainly get your dose of Hogwarts in the next film.  I reread all the books through Oct. and Nov. leading up to the movie release.  Considering where they split the movies I would think the next movie would start a Shell Cottage, move to Gringotts and then progress in short order to Hogsmede and Hogwarts.

As for the books vs. movie, I think you will find that the movies diverged more as the books got longer up until this point.  A major thing is that Ron gets short shrift in the movies.  Most of his insights and knowledge in the books gets pushed on Hermoine in the movies since she is the "smart one".

Since it seems that Hollywood can only remake movies these days, I envisioned what it would take to truely recreate these books as movies as I reread them.  There are places for cuts and condensation, but I think that you would either have to do two movies for most (from either book 3 or 4 on) or do Lord of the Rings directors cuts style running time for most.  At the least, I think Books 5 and 7 would require two movies each.

I think the excuse for HPB is that there was going to be a huge battle in the last movie, so they didn't want to do it twice.  A major plot hole for the current movie is the mirror given to Harry in OoTP from Sirius.  It was completely left out of the fifth movie, but is used in this one.  It seems they have tried to use explanations in the past for stuff like this, but not this time.

As for the closeness of the books to the movies, I would say the first is probably the closest.  The only major changes that I can think of off hand is the omission of the Charlie's friends coming to pick up Norbert, the change in who was in detention in the Forest w/ Hagrid, and the omission of the potion challenge at the end.  Otherwise it followed the book pretty closely.

If you hadn't noticed that Bill hadn't been in the previous films then I take it you haven't seen any of them?  I think he was mentioned, as was Charlie, but we didn't actually seel Bill till this film and I don't think Charlie is ever going to be in the films.

   E...

If we're lucky, we would see Charlie at the Battle of Hogwarts, but I'm not holding my breath.

Remember when watching a movie just meant putting it in your player and pressing play?

I hate this update firmwware rubbish, but as i'm using my ps3 its not such a hassle to do

That's exactly what I was thinking.  All our "regular" DVDs play just fine, but to watch our blu rays we're apparently going to have to try this as well.  All the advances in technology, yet it was easier to watch a movie from start to finish on my parents' VCR as a kid :).  This is probably a super stupid question, but how does one go about updating the firmware?  I found the file I need on the company website, but do you need your BD player hooked up to the web to do it?  Do you download the file to a disk, or am I just way off on how to do this.  I used to consider myself somewhat tech "savvy", but I just don't keep up as well anymore.

After reading the last several posts on this issue, I decided I should probably check my Bluray player.   I have a Pioneer Elite and they gave me a whole list of button mashing to do on my remote to check my firmware version.  To make the actual update, they said to download the files to a computer and then burn them to a CD to put in the player.  Not sure if this is the same for all players or not.  I think I have an ethernet port on my player, but I would have the slightest clue on how to update that way.  Burning a CD looks to be the easy way for me.

I have never been a McNabb fan, but "Grossman knows the 2 minute offense better" is one of the weirdest decisions/excuses I've ever heard especially from a Super Bowl Champion coach.

Especially since he completely boned it on the very first play he was in the game.  McNabb had been throwing some weak passes, and did lose the game with the pick he shouldn't have thrown.  The announcers were speculating that McNabb was injured because they couldn't think of any reason to bench him.  With all the close games Detroit has had this year, I figured the Skins would be the ones to finally choke against them.
