Other Toy Lines / Re: Latest vintage acqusition
« on: September 6, 2011, 10:59 AM »
Awesome IA, lmk if you are looking for any other vintage MOTU stuff, I have boxes of figures, vehicles etc I am looking to get rid of.

I have a few vintage toys I am still looking to re-add to my collection:

Pulsar
Shogun Warriors and Godzilla
ROM Spaceknight

Gets harder and harder to find this stuff on eBay complete and in decent condition.

After re-watching the movies again this weekend, there is one horrible glaring issue that has ALWAYS bothered me that they could have easily "fixed" but I'm sure they chose not to.

Boba Fett should NEVER scream like a little girl going into the Sarlacc pit.

That one seemingly insignificant detail just about ruins the whole character to me. Galaxy's most feared bounty hunter, yet he squeals with fear over a giant Venus flytrap. Suuuuure.

Taking that out would almost balance out the travesty of Vader's "Nooo". Almost.

Also, since no one else seems to want to take the hard-liner position, I will. These are not Lucas's movies - they belong to the public now as all great works of art do. It is the imperfections which give movies their character and personality for lack of a better word. (IMHO)

You don't go back and tweak "Potemkin" or "Citizen Kane" just because you can. SW is no different, Lucas be damned. Just my two cents~

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: September 6, 2011, 09:14 AM »
Yeah, that was really more of a rhetorical question, I understand the timing but it is an ill-conceived and poorly executed plan at best. Most stores with half a brain would ramp up for a major new display like that and have plenty of product to put out on the pegs, new or otherwise. Even Target got this at first when they did their resets.

Practically speaking, it really does you no good to have a major eye-catching display like that right in the front of the store if the empty spaces outnumber the actual items on the shelf. "Hey Kids! Clone Wars starts again soon, so remember to watch the show but don't bother finding any of the toys here."

JTA feels me:

"The distribution woes are nightmarish and it seems the only people not losing years off of their lives worrying about finding figures are those who are ordering them online. Hmm, that sounds like a splendid idea now, doesn't it? We'll say the same trite thing over and over again. Let's wait and see what happens in a few weeks. But it's very disheartening to wait for product to come that never does."

Word!

The local TRU put up their Clone Wars display sometime over the past few days. To call it pathetic would be a gross understatement. It's literally the saddest in-store display I have ever seen. They maybe have 10 figures on the pegs, a mish-mash of Oddball, Cato, and Obis. They didn't even swap out the 4 way displays in the front which are still dedicated to CARS.

NO new figures, no new deluxe sets, no new vehicles. Just old garbage and not much of that.

Even the casual observer would have to scratch their heads and wonder, what's the point?

I am already sick of looking for these new figures, my state seems woefully behind on this stuff for some inexplicable reason.

Not so much a find - my local TRU changed the marquee area in the front to be Clone Wars themed. The graphic is pretty cool - it shows Anakin dueling with Savage Opress, Obi-Wan dueling with Ventress and Yoda and Dooku.

No new product, they essentially moved product from the home location in the boys action figure aisles over to the marquee - maybe they're expecting stuff next week. (one can only hope)

Didn't I read that you found new figures there later? Or am I crazy? Thought I recalled you posting about finding Jetpack Rex or some such thing.

None of the TRU's have reset here of course.

The Vintage Collection / Re: New Hasbro Fans Choice Poll
« on: September 2, 2011, 09:10 AM »
I think it's horse**** that they stipulate any characters from the Clone Wars that win have to be made in the realistic style.

You've already alienated me from even wanting to participate now, Hasbro.

Already sold out, according to JTA.

I still defy Hasbro to prove that this wave ever shipped to a single brick and mortar retail outlet. I've never seen a figure this hard to find.

I actually bought the mini Y-Wing off HTS when it first went up, but those jackholes at the warehouse sent me one that was so beat up it is simply unacceptable. And since I don't feel like wasting more money by returning it, I am stuck with the stupid thing until I can find one in a store to replace it.

Of course I already missed the $4 deal at Target apparently, but I can't even find this crummy rig at TRU or Walmart either, and I have looked in VA, GA, DC, and MO.

I'd buy the Droid BP too, but I refuse to pay over the retail price, so I have to wait for them to run a sale or get a sweet promo code that negates the brutal shipping fees. Then again, I'm sure they would just send me one with a smushed corner or some other BS that would also render it useless to my MOC collection.

It just seems hopeless all around lately with the enromous glut of older crap that is still inundating the pegs. There is no reason the Flamthrower Clone or Jungle ARF Trooper should even still be in circulation right now. Those figures are MONTHS old.

No, I still can't find the blasted thing. I think I have seen 10 of every other new item, except the droids BP which has also been elusive.

co-sign. I have gotten really sick of looking for both of these things. Every store is so over-saturated with the first waves, I doubt I'll ever see these.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Target Vintage Collection Luke's TaunTaun
« on: September 1, 2011, 09:57 AM »
Weren't these supposed to be out already?

Target completely abandoned stocking new SW toys in this area after they completed their recent reset. It's like after they moved things around they were all like "We're done!" and proceeded to abandon practices like stocking new figures, restocking Deluxe sets that have sold through, clearancing out older exclusives to make room, etc.

It's suddenly like summertime all over again, with a complete fail on new product everywhere.

Thanks guys, we just got power back last night, so things are looking up here.

I was only venting in regard to the media coverage, not anyone's posts, it just seemed out of whack to me somehow. But ya I get it, media is all numbers driven and they would rather panic as many people as possible rather than focus on the actual facts.

Don't care about Ewok eyes or saber colors, but I utterly reject any changes that actually impact the plot or original continuity.

I never want to see Hayden Jackoff in ANYTHING OT. To quote the Simpsons " You ruined everything! Ruiner!"

You cannot add the NOOOO to that scene in ROTJ, it detracts from the overall emotional impact of that scene, which was perfect as it existed originally.

And I will never, ever let that Han shoots first thing go. Single worst thing Lucas has ever done in his entire professional career. THEY DID NOT SHOOT AT THE SAME TIME! Dude just does not get it.

F-these sets if Han doesn't shoot first.

I saw a swapped out TRU set yesterday at TRU here in Atlanta. Darth Phobos was replaced by the TCW Senate Guard, and Starkiller was replaced by the Vader from the Birth BP. Unbelievable. I have never seen anything like that back in VA thank God.

Underwhelming MY ASS.

I guess if you only factor in the state of New York, which apparently is the only state that matters in media coverage.  ::)

The thing was DEVASTATING here in VA. We got the worst of it by far, whether you are talking about flooding, stomr surge, rainfall totals, wind gusts, fatalities, power outages, etc.

75% of central VA was without power, most of us still are. Let me, tell you, it is no picnic living with no electricity for 3 days+ with 2 kids aged 4 and 6. If you're not ready to eat a bullet by the third day it's only because you've become completely numb to the unrelenting mental anguish.

Along with Isabel, that is the worst storm I have ever been through, there are trees down all around our neighborhood, many through people's houses.

I am thankful that more people up and down the coast were not affected, but for those of us that were it remains a very stressful situation.
