When he first posted the picture I typed R.E.M. into Google and got dozens of hits.  The statement came from their website:

And why is it that everytime there's something like this, we get a shaky, 320x200 video? Don't these people know how to bring the news? Take your cam, hold it steady, record for a minute or three and then go party like crazy!
