Sideshow Premium Format Figures

Crap, that's beautiful. It shall be mine.

Sideshow's site isn't taking orders yet. I'd prefer to get it from them, but I preordered from SWS just in case.

I see they kept their idea for working electronics:

Measuring a towering 20" tall, the Premium Format Darth Vader Figure is a museum quality 1/4 scale reproduction of the Dark Lord's appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope. The multi-layered costume combines expertly tailored clothing with a body and armor cast in heavy-weight polystone and other mediums, each chosen to best represent the original costume. The lightsaber, chest and belt panels feature electronic light function. Each figure is painted, costumed, and assembled by hand, and held to the highest quality standards.

EDIT: All looks good except for the stand. It really needs something larger and more recognizable.

Uh, I think I might have done something really stupid: I ordered the Darth Vader statue from Sideshow.

It's such a gorgeous piece, I just couldn't resist.  And at 20" tall, this thing will certainly be the centrepiece of my collection.  Even electronics to light up!   

The only problem is how the hell do I justify this to my wife?     Oh well, it's not supposed to ship until the 3rd quarter of '05, so I've got time to come up with something.   

(Sheesh, I pull this while I'm still trying to convince her that I/we should go to C3...)

Oooooh.  Thanks, Dale, I needed that.  You just convinced me that I did the right thing by ordering that Vader statue.

At 20" tall, that beauty is almost as tall as me!  (I'm not kidding, I'm still waiting for my growth spurt...   )

Went back to Toy Fair again today for the first "Official" day. To be honest, I was kinda underwhelmed by the whole thing. I guess I was just unprepared, and didn't realize that I actually needed appointments to see some of the booths (which I didn't have). Outside of Master Replicas and Sideshow there was barely any Star Wars prescence at all.

I did take about 70 new pics of assorted stuff, but there seems to be something going on with the Image Folio software, so they are not accessible at the moment. But I just had to share some pics of the new Sideshow Darth Vader figure. This thing is simply amazing, and has to be seen in person to really be appreciated. The chest box and lightsaber both light up. His outfit is made of real leather. He is just simply the coolest thing out there right now. A big thanks to Heath and Scott and the rest of the guys at the Sideshow booth for hooking me up with the chance to take some real nice pics, as they lifted off the glass case that was covering Vader for me.

Agreed, it's great to see what he looks like without the case over him.

Dave, after you posted those great pics of Vader (thanks again!) in the Toy Fair thread, it got me wondering.  Did the reps there have any idea of any possible changes?  On Sideshow's website, they mention that it is still only a prototype, and subject to change.
