1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Galactic Trading Post 1/6 Items
« on: September 30, 2016, 09:46 PM »
Their 1/12 Space Walls have done well and so Galactic Trading Post is expanding to other scales...

To coincide with #GoRogue Friday, they're unveiling their first 1/6 items...

1/6 Scale "Space Wall" 4 Pc Light-Up set, for $195 Pre-Order

1/6 Opening Cargo Box w/Trays $55 ea or 2/$45 ea Pre-Order

Prices being what they are, you'd expect high quality.  Comparatively speaking, you'll get it if they're anything like the 1/12 scale Space Walls...  High quality ABS plastic, injection molded, superior detail...  No resin garage kits here, which can be good but which are never the same as steel tooled molds.

Given what people pay for 1/6 scale figures, I get that quality is paramount here...  The description of those space walls alone is intriguing.  LED light panels and a blinking light control panel.  Slick stuff it seems.  I'm anxious to see these in person myself, or quality production images.

Well it looks like K-Mart has another exclusive for this year...  I saw Yakface tweet about this earlier, but a picture has turned up of a 6" Sgt. Jyn Erso like the title says.

She appears to have at least an exclusive base going for her...  Not sure what else is unique to be honest.  I know it's wildly different than the SDCC Jyn Erso, but will there be a general release version of her in this specific set of accessories or is the base and maybe the deco be all that's exclusive like last year's K-Mart figures?

If it's all the gear though, this will be a much more popular figure I'd imagine.

Starting a thread here because I thought some of you might be interested in Death Star Hallways like everyone says they're interested in Death Star Hallways. :P

Via the wonders of Social Media I found a company I'd never heard of called Galactic Trading Post, who have already put out a series of Injection Molded Plastic (IE: Not resin or 3D prints) Space Walls, which just so happen to look a hell of a lot like Death Star Hallways.  They're a new company, but they've already sold out of their initial run of these, and only the 2-wall expansion set is available currently.

That said, I made contact with the company founders, and have talked with them a bit about what they're making now, what they're making soon, and what they're hoping to make in the more distant future!  It's definitely ambitious, and they seem to already have a hit on their hands.  You can read all about it on Our Front Page now!  I'm going to pick up some of the wall expansions out of simple curiosity.  While I'm not a 6" collector at heart, and the initial offerings are in 1/12 scale, I see potential use for them on their sides as 3.75" displays, actually.  I'm excited to pick some up just to see.  Hopefully I'll have some kind of review to slap together for it all.

In the meantime, click the link and read up about them, visit their site, and dream!

The Sequel Trilogy / So, Are Kanjiklub Literally Little Freaks?
« on: March 10, 2016, 10:05 PM »
Not talking midgets here, but Kanjiklub was referenced by Han as "Little freaks".

Then the leader figure is diminutive (I don't have him, just know he is).  They're tough to really tell in the show they're in, but are they like pygmy type guys or what?

It was one of the funnier lines in the movie IMO and I kind of am curious about them now.  They just look like Asian guys from what I recall, but are they really tiny humans or what?

Other Collectibles / Star Wars Stools
« on: February 12, 2016, 07:03 PM »
Weird I know, but shop stools with Star Wars characters are half off half off at Kmart.  I think these first showed at Pep Boys but Kmart got some for Xmas.  There are Vader, Boba, Stormtrooper, and a generic Star Wars logo.  My store only had Boba but somehow I got a Vader today after placing an order online and store pickup.  $15 for a stool for ur garage or basement is kinda good anyway.  The fact it's Star Wars is just more dead.

Hasbro Pulse Website

Click the linky above to read...  Basically though, Hasbro's started a more direct "fan site" to connect with fans of their various brands and such.  They're promising inside design process stories, feature stories on people like Stephen Hayford and his photo-art (which is already up on the site and good to read), Fan polls, and product reveals.

Check it out...  It officially debuts tomorrow but is live now.

LEGO / LEGO 2016
« on: June 11, 2015, 02:16 PM »
Well, according to the article revealing the first TFA toys, the Buildable First Order Stormtrooper won't be available till 2016, so we have our first set for next year already. :)

80+ parts to it?  Those Buildable figures have a bit more to them than I thought they'd be, as far as a kit goes.

The title's a mouthful, but I wanted to start a thread about the Calender Hasbro sent out to media outlets (including us), and the idea behind it.  Hasbro wanted fans to take a look back, day-by-day, at figures from the line's long history, as they count down the days to September 4th and The Force Awakens toys.  Click the image below and check out the story. :)

Clicky To Check Out!

The calender is pretty neat, and features a different toy on every day.  Vintage included, and lots of different things.  Some I'd not thought about in a long time actually.

It's an interesting little promo item and we took a few pictures to check out if you're interested.  I particularly enjoyed the Ralph McQuarrie birthday page. :)

And yes, of course Jedi Defender's favorite all-time figure made it into the photo shoot.  He just was running by anyway.  ::)

Also, we can use this thread to maybe look back on the line and some of our favorite things.  Figures or whatever that we maybe haven't thought about in a while?

One that came to my mind while trying to snap a few pictures was Pote Snitkin...  Highlighy underrated figure, kind of forgotten in a weird way.  The sculpting on him is really ahead of its time, for a POTF2 figure.  Something about it still just really holds up against the best looking current figures.

I'm always up for upgrades on figures that aren't as poseable, but really Pote I'm ok with as he is too.  He's just a nice looking figure, and had some pretty cool gear to boot!  Loved that big mace type blade thing he had.

If you hit us up on social media on this topic, feel free to use #ForceFridayCountdown in your post as fans gear up for The Force Awakens toys!

The Sequel Trilogy / Launch X-Wing, Score Tickets To The Premiere?
« on: April 29, 2015, 07:04 PM »
Well, maybe...  so far, they haven't, but two dudes sent an X-Wing into space via weather balloon to ask for premiere tickets, and I hope they get them. :)

I'm kinda curious what that X-Wing looks like, after I assume coming back.  I'm going to assume similar to as if Luke landed it, since that seemed to be his weak point.

GG released pre-orders for their C7 exclusives...  Took a while it seems.

Clicky pics to check out the story! :)

I'm not a big mini-bust buyer, but I kinda want that McQuarrie one.  Oh well.  I'll live without it I guess.

Disneyland appears to be getting an exclusive repaint of the Build-A-Droid R2 mold, as R2-D60...  celebrating 60 years of the park.

Caught this on Yakface...

Soooooo, yeah, I want one of those.  :-\  Phruby, you busy? :P

I dig the deco...  All blue R2-D2, more or less.  It's a neat variant.  $12.95...  Not a bad price, but limited to 6000 which seems awful low.

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Hot Toys 1/6 Obi-Wan Kenobi ANH
« on: February 16, 2015, 09:12 PM »
Wow do 1/6 figures keep getting more and more expensive, but man does Hot Toys knock them out of the park too.   :-\

I dig the light-up sabers they're doing.  That's quality stuff...  I was trying hard to see if they added the patches and little details to OWK's costume.  Couldn't really tell by pics, but if not I'd be a tad disappointed due to the heft $219.99 price tag on this one.  >:(

The Wookiee Arcade / Going Nuts Releasing Star Wars Games
« on: January 21, 2015, 12:48 AM »
My dreams are coming true!

First released X-Wing and TIE Fighter...  Now?  Oh my!

GOG released KOTOR II, Battlefront II, Galactic Battlegrounds, X-Wing Vs. TIE Fighter, and my favorites...

Dark Forces, and X-Wing: Alliance too!

Yes, two of the ULTIMATE storylines in Star Wars EU, ever IMHO, are now simple downloadable games that'll play on modern machines.

To boot?  X-Wing: Alliance may damn well be moddable so if you have a fast rig, check out X-Wing: Alliance Upgrade...  they've made insanely detailed ops for the game for YEARS (since its release), and can make Alliance look like it was made yesterday visually.

Your PC will need to be beefy to run Alliance Upgrade downloads but I'm guessing they're already making sure it's compatible and everything works.  They can take the game from dated looking, to something you'd see on any modern console (or better).  Their work is professional to say the least.

Other Collectibles / Bandai Star Wars Vehicle Model Kits
« on: January 8, 2015, 09:08 PM »
No thread I see, so I figured I'd start one...

Bandai is doing more than just figures, but also jumping headfirst into vehicle model kits.  They're molded in-color on the sprue, and with a ton of detail.  I've seen a few comparison videos of the Darth Vader TIE and X-Wing, which were released right before the holidays, and compared to Fine Molds they're really quite nice.

Fine Molds were considered pretty high up there...  Kind of difficult to trump really, and vastly superior to Revel kits you'd find in the toy aisle.  Their one Millenium Falcon is insanely complex and boasts that it is comprised of the same # of parts as the studio model...  That's pretty impressive.

These Bandai kits are a different egg but hyper detailed.  They're giving a wide variety of display options, even optional different nosecones on the X-Wing (a first).  They also have optional "laser blast" effects, and the ships so far have little bases that are actually pieces of the Death Star's surface and they interlock.  Pretty slick stuff.

Now today, they just listed for pre-order on HLJ kits for the AT-ST and TIE Fighter...  The TIE looks like a must-buy for me, to go with an X-Wing.

Both are only $16.07 right now too.  You get a good bit for that price it seems.

I'm anxious to see what they do with a Star Destroyer, Y-Wing, and AT-AT...  and of course the Falcon.

Sooner, rather than later?

If "trailer spoilers" are a thing ( ??? ), don't read that article.
