Oh man, a Death Star Trooper...  How'd I forget that?

That could kill one of my other choices.   :-\  The one out there is a real piece of **** though.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: #65 Tactical Ops Trooper (501st)

I like the AT-TE Gunner a lot for diversity's sake, but that's comparing it agains the #6 and #41 sculpts that shipped with it.  So to that end, I'm disappointed in no really good carded 501st Clone...  SA or #6 would've suited me fine really, and I hope it happens at some point.  I'll get a handful of the TE Gunner sculpt of these but they won't be something I want more than 10 of...  I'll hope for a repaint of one of the other sculpts at some point (I don't count the 5-pack since you get stuck with 2 figures you don't necessarilly want).

BTW I agree that the Target Clone's sculpt (CW Clone with E3 helmet) is being basically wasted right now if the supposed "excuse" is true that they are low on production capabilities for Clones.  Put that baby to good use and crank out some 501st Troopers en masse for us.  Ship them alongside the TE Gunner sculpt even.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...

I'm looking at the Kama (I love having a word other than "skirt" for this) and I don't see a means of popping it off shorto f some customizing. :)

It's not a Stormie belt, but this thread enlightened me that the Sandie's belt comes off, that's cool.  Weird that it does, but cool.

I like the grey uniformed Clones myself...  The Sandtrooper's looking mighty mucky but I'm ok with that.  They haven't done a good Sandtrooper paintjob yet anyway, so I'm not too picky there.  He's just seen some heavy action it seems.

Never understood why troopers on a desert planet were really all that muddy, since sand isn't really muddy, but whatever.

More Evolutions sets for me to not find!  Yay!

I wish that these types of things would somehow be made illegal...  Such bull**** that you can basically be infected online irregardless and there's no punishment for the site who's hosting such ****.

I got mine about an hour ago...  Terrorized the cats already.  :)  What a neat little toy.

And it cost what?  The same price as an exclusive Target figure rehash?  My god that's pitiful.

Grun?  Not bad, I like that Jay...

The article's good, but not as in-depth as I was expecting.  For instance there's very little about Neyo in it and hell, he was in the movie!

Some interesting stuff though, including the first time I've read anything from LFL explaining the usefulness of the Kama (which basically mimiced fan speculation).  Also was interested when I read the "Marines" uniform was for all kinds of climates and wasn't cold-weather specific.  I'm still gonna say the ones in ESB are just the Stormies cold weather uniforms like handing out trench and mackinaw coats to GI's in the Bulge, but their getups were developed from the CW "Marines".  It gave good reasons for the gear though being useful on other harsh planets.

Very curious read...  Some of it strikes me as fanciful and sorta BS (typical EU) but some of it was really neat to read too.  I just wish it was more in-depth because I know it could've been.

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Re: Quality Walker Custom
« on: September 20, 2005, 06:11 PM »
I think vintage AT-ST legs would've been a better choice.  Set it up higher and it'd put it at somewhere between RT/PT height and the AT-ST's actual height (since the vinty's so underscaled).

Not sure I like the whole armament it has...  Seems cluttered for something so small, but that's just a minor gripe.  I would've instead swapped out some random weapons on the front that are home-made I think and left the sides clear, or perhaps even made the side the hatch (since it's so short) ala the AT-PT's hatch.

Still, I agree with you CHEWIE, it's a really nice piece, and it's a great example of parts use to produce something completely believable in SW.  Looks very cool.  I'm now hell-bent on making something from the inspiration I got out of this little bugger. :)

Star Wars Ships and Vehicles / Quality Walker Custom
« on: September 20, 2005, 02:03 AM »
This custom got brought to my attention, and it's by a guy nicked "PsychoCloneTrooper".  Not sure he's a member here but I'm guessing he isn't.

Anyway, I liked this a lot, it's one of the more interesting vehicles I've seen of late and I thought a thread for it was in order...  The parts useage is great, and inexpensive really (if you can bare tearing up an AT-RT).  I would've used a vintage AT-ST's legs myself, and actually this guy's walker has me inspired to try something myself along these lines since the parts are so readily available.  It's one of those things you wish you'd thought of when you see it I think. :)

I love a good ship, especially something that sits well with figures (modern) and looks believable.   It seems to me that PsychoClone did some extra detail work to the whole thing and a spiffy paintjob.

I think I'd have opened the "viewport" some, or at least made a clear viewport for it, but I could easily see opening viewport armor like on the AT-ST for this vehicle.  The single-mounted flexible cannon is great.

Someone noted it being an AT-PT which it isn't, but it'd be in a similar class...  Perhaps a different weapon mounted, but definitely not an AT-PT and the creator noted it wasn't as well.

I like it though, love it really and thought it's more than worth talking about here too.  Here's pics and a link to his site with recipe:

I asked my family to play Star Wars music if it happened...  The Imperial March, The main theme, Cantina songs (both), the Endor assault (the opening song), and I'd add some prequal stuff I'm sure, but I did (seriously) ask for SW music.  I'm not a very musical person...

Oh and I'd consider "Hit Somebody" by Warren Zevon too.  Every guy who's needed dental work from the game should ask for that.

It does Dale, thanks.

I'm so strapped I can't put in on one right now but I'll watch.  Models seem to be available for a time unless it's the AT-AT in the U.S.

Boy was that bitch to find.  I finally found ONE at WM and grabbed it full price.  I wasn't pissing around on that one again.  It's not even totally accurate, but it's been all there is, and I need one for a larger scale project (since I know what inaccuracies it has) to use the little one as a reference guide.

I'm disappointed at the price as well Bob, and not sure I can justify the cost though I want one so bad.   :-\

What's rough about sinking that kind of cash into a model kit is the possibility of not doing a good job on it.  This is the kind of kit the pro's do...  Even their XW and TIE were mid-level difficulty, but this looks to be something a bit on the intimidating side.

I want this though...  And you just can't get a more iconic ship, and their models are actually higher quality and accuracy than even ILM-supervised products like the Icons TIE or Master Replicas items...  Their accuracy is outstanding and made for scrutinizing eyes, not distant camera shots, so I'll likely buckle and buy this.

Nice to see some interest in models...  The U.S. is such a hole for model kits anymore.  AMT/Ertl are a joke and you can only seem to get the good stuff if you order overseas products anymore.

Other Collectibles / Re: Ceramic Cookie Jars
« on: September 20, 2005, 12:37 AM »
If I get one, sadly I'm going to want them all, but I did get the Vader one at Target recently and I have to say that Ceramic Cookie jars are a nice little thing to collect.  They're weighty, seem like quality items...  May be a neat side thing to pick up.

I've got an itch to branch out from figures right now too Jesse and I'm looking for oddball stuff.  Cake pans are something I've always got my eye on so I may be heading that route too, though these ceramic things this year have caught my interest immediately.

Just outta curiosity, what's the difficulty of finding AT-ST's, and how "tough" to find do you think an AT-AT is going to be?

I'd like at least one AT-AT with 2 ST's flanking it...  It's a dream I have for minis gaming, but I've heard bad things about the AT-ST's availability.

Yup, that's a fast way to kill any hope of owning that.

I can build something just as accurate for penny's on the dollar.  And likely more durable/sturdy, maybe better features...  So funk dat.

Too bad too, as I really was interested in these as shelf displays for figures.  Even the Yoda Hut looked amazing and worth picking up if they were remotely reasonable.  I couldn't even see $400 for these, much less $4,000.  What a reaming.

Scott's collection is great because he has the elusive "Yellow camouflaged Stormtrooper".

What's so great about that figure?

It was made exclusively to go with your urine collection.  Obviously Dale is jealous.
