Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Jeff's Mos Eisley Cantina Aliens

That's a good idea for a body for a Trandoshan/Saurin... I hope you haven't patented your idea, because I'm gonna "borrow" it.

Go ahead!  That's half the fun of these forums, sharing ideas and gaining inspiration for each other's work!

I really like the way it turned out.  Like you said, maybe not 100% movie-accurate, but since you hardly notice them in the movie, I'm not too worried about it.   ;)

I merged all 3 of my threads into this one to help keep things nice and tidy...

Very nice!  I love the armor/clothing on him - gives him a wookiee look but something new!

Man, it's been a loooong time since I posted in this thread...  how about an update?   ;)

Sai'torr Kal Fas (Saurin Droid Trader):
dead image link removed

I had to do something with my PotF2 Bossk after I got the Saga one, so I combined him with a little paint and an $2 Ep1 Clearance Rune Haako.

I still need to try to find a nice color match for paint for his hands, just haven't had time to mix up a batch of paint yet to do it.   :-\

I gave him a drinking glass made from one of my favorite customs tricks - it's a push-pin with the pin pulled out.  Without the little metal pin, those push-pin make pretty nifty glasses.   ;)

Looks like the main page just announced the winner...

Congrats Brian!   :)

I have a fairly hefty Starcom collection.  Not sure if you're familiar with that line or not 10", but it was one of the most innovative toy lines (IMO) of the 1980's.

Wow, how did I not catch this before?
I guess that makes two of us here who loved this line.  The little magnets on the feet were great!

My collection isn't anywhere near complete, but that's because I haven't really tried to finish it up (I've got just about all the Starcom stuff, missing a few bad-guy ships).

I think this is the only "StarCom" site I know of...

Maybe we'll have to compare notes sometime, Jesse!   ;)

JD Sports Forum! / The Sports RIP Thread - RIP George Mikan
« on: June 2, 2005, 02:32 PM »

RIP George Mikan  :'(

Now there was a Laker that I could care about.  He was the heart and soul of the Lakers waaaaaay before any of those other guys.

Here's my list...
1.  Padme (Apartment Scene) - gotta have the cinna-bun hairdo Padme!

2.  Beru Lars (Prequel) w/baby Luke - we didn't get them for Ep2, how about Ep3?

3.  Owen Lars (Prequel) - see Beru

4.  Padme (Jedi Temple Burning) - poor sad Padme...  :'(

5.  Bariss Offee (SA Jedi) - to go with Shaak, Luminara, and Aayla  ;)

6.  Baron Papanoidia - too goofy to pass up

7.  Padme (Funeral Dress w/Casket) - poor dead Padme  :'(

8.  Queen of Alderaan w/baby Leia - why not?

9.  Coruscant Firefighter - cool outfit, good filler for dioramas

10.  Po Nudo (Aqualish Senator) - one of the last Separatist Senators left

Three Padmes and no Clones on my list.

Actually, I guess this is more of a "haves" list than a "needs" list but here goes...   ;)

List updated --->  Click HERE for current list.   :)

Jeff, these guys are very cool.  I would suggest possibly doing some hand swaps too, and maybe a bit of a dry brush to make the uniforms look a bit more "used" - but as is, they are still nice.   I really dig the custom tools.  :)

Yeah, it's hard to see, but one of the 2 does have swapped hands (they are still black/gloved though - from a Biggs figure I think).

As for air-brushing, well I suck at that.  I need a bit more practice on other junk before I mess these guys up.   :-\

Time for another Jedi update...

Duro Jedi Master:
dead image link removed

Duros Head/Hands
Ep1 Mace Body
Custom Saber

I like the way he turned out - nice OT nod in my Geonosis Arena.  His saber is made from a Cantina Band instrument chunk.

Human Jedi Knight:

Titan AE Head
Ep1 Jedi Duel Quigon Torso
Duros lower legs/boots (for the ankle holster)

A bit more modifications and painting on this guy.  I like to mix up the easy easy chop-n-swap customs with more intricate jobs.  I did a bit of work on the Qui-Gon body before I used it, but I really like the way he turned out as well!

Took a while for me to come back to these guys, but here is the rest of the Rebel X-Wing Mechanic Staff...

Nikto Rebel Ground Crew:
dead image link removed
Nikto Jedi Head
Djas Puhr Body
custom made tools - grease gun, blowtorch, scanner

Human Rebel Ground Crew:
dead image link removed
Big Builder" Head
Djas Puhr Body
custom made tools - screwdriver, pliers, and two energy cutters (not shown)

I use the gun holsters as a tool belt, and did some very minor re-painting on the bodies.  Nothing like fleshing out my Rebel Hangar scene with a few techs.    :)

Note the vastly improved photo skills since last August.  ;)

Maybe I should re-take shots of the X-Wing dude at the start of the thread now that I can actually use the focus correctly?  :P

What the story on the retooled gun on the Spider Droid? Is there a pic somewhere with a comparison?

Ask and ye shall receive... that's the service of JD.   ;)

Glad you finally stopped on by these parts!  Always nice to have another great trader on board!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Take a Penny, Leave a Penny
« on: June 1, 2005, 04:42 PM »
I know people who have taken ALL the pennies in the TaP/LaP bin, but I think the most I ever snaked from there was like $0.08 so I didn't have to break a $20 bill...

I agree, maybe it's just MN ideology, but that little TaP/LaP bin = FREE MONEY.  Maybe it's in poor form to take more than 1-3 pennies, but there is no law against it.

I guess it's kinda like that whole Army Builder issue - how much can you take before you are being inconsiderate?  The world may never know...    :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?
« on: June 1, 2005, 04:29 PM »
Personally, I wish they had just called this figure "Ultimate Darth Vader" and made the figure so g-d articulated and detailed there wouldn't or couldn't ever possibly be a better incarnation of the Dark Lord.

That woulda been nice... as would the WHOLE Meditation Chamber, not just half with a lame cover.
