They basically have to do a Catwoman figure, don't they ;)

I certainly hope so!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Emperor, Faytonni, WA-7, Vader and Luke

I really like that Emperor. I think a little boiling water and a slight reposition on that hood and he'll be perfect. I'm planning on getting 2, so I can customize one for the EW Vader to hold. Sweeeeeet....

I'm a huge Emperor fan (not GNT), so I've been stoked about this figure since ToyFair. I'm glad we're finally getting a Palpy with black robes! Also, the vintage Emperor was originally going have a head that was separate from his cloth robes, so this seems like a little tribute of sorts. The 2004 Jedi Luke certainly looks like a tribute to his vintage counterpart.

Now that is cool.

That's a character from the "Star Wars: Empire" series. He's a Moff who conspires to overthrow the Emperor. Unfortunately the Emperor pretty much knows if someone is trying to assassinate him, so it fails. All in all the story was pretty cool. It was a 4-part story that started the Empire series.

How tall is the Batman figure? Is it 7"?

The Hush Batman figures look really cool too. The Poison Ivy and Joker in particular. I'm still hoping for a really cool Catwoman figure....Grrrrr.....  8)

I think Lucas was just taking a jab at his ex-wife. Especially where on the commentary he says Zam looks beautiful but she's really a monster underneath.

Whoa! Thanks for replying guys (and Carrie). Keep it coming! :D

And Matt...

Just so there's no confusion here - I'm JediMAC, and from all indications, Scott is not my father...

Search your feelings, you know it to be true! :P

With the confusion in the Rebelscumians thread, I thought I'd solidify the community here a bit more, and give us a chance to introduce/reintroduce ourselves. No need to follow my formula, post whatever you want.

I guess I'll go first.

I've been collecting Star Wars since I could hold the figures in my hand. I first saw A New Hope when it was rereleased right before The Empire Strikes Back. I was about 3 years old, and I had a Darth Vader candy dispenser. My feet didn't even touch the floor. I was a fan from then on.

Wow! I never knew we could say "****house"!  :o

Here's my piece...

First of all, thanks to Chris for giving us this oasis from trolls. I truly feel at home here, and I'm glad to be able to freely discuss collecting with you guys. You're a great bunch. Thanks to Scott for inviting me to JD. I think if you hadn't, I would have just stopped posting altogether.

I don't go to rebelscum anymore because not only do the boards take an eon to load for some reason, but it really has become a GiaNT crap-sandwich. I don't like dealing with people who don't have an ounce of respect, and people who make their post-count the defining factor of their life (cough...GNT...cough). I used to really like 'scum for a while after the BHC/'Scum merger. But it seemed like around Episode 2, it just started to slide.

Before that I belonged to the BHC forums and the old Yakface forums. Neither place felt as alien to me as the 'Scum forums have in the past six months or so. To be honest, I almost prefer the slower pace here, and there are hardly any transients, trolls or scam artists to deal with.

Yep, Saesee would look cool in a Starfighter.

So what's going on, you low down dirty Scoundrel??

Same old, same old, CHEWIE. Can't wait for this new stuff to be in my collection. I'm sick of seeing Jango Pilot on the pegs! :P

Hey JJ, I had been tossing around the idea of a strategy game for when I have kids that's kind of similar to what you're talking about. I had thought of it as using a grid (wood parquet floor?) as spaces, and keeping it simple at first and then making it more complicated as they get older to help them think strategically. Hopefully my kids will like Star Wars...wait, of course they will.

Basically, you'd have "Teams", i.e Empire, Alliance, Republic, Separatists. Obviously it would be inaccurate to have the Alliance vs. The Republic, but if you really want to, what the hell. Within these groups you can have factions that have different skills.

For instance, the Alliance can have an Ewok squad that can set traps on any squares in the grid. The enemy can't see them, but you have to write the square's location down on a piece of paper when you set it, and obviously you can't change it unless you want to dismantle the original trap, but it still counts as a move.

You can also have Dresselians who can sabotage enemy machinery or snipe.

Gungans can form a deflector shield around your infantry and take out mechanized infantry with their boomer balls.

The Empire can call down TIE bombers to make precision strikes behind enemy lines.

Bounty Hunters/Assasins can be hired to take out leaders, which makes the troops less effective (still working on penalties for loss of leaders, but I know that an Empire team with General Veers should be better than an Empire team with a generic General)

Squads of Jedi can be used, but I'm trying to figure out a way to not make them invincible.

The Empire can send probe droids to investigate specific areas of the map.

These are just a few examples of what I've been planning. I'd keep it simple at first, for instance an AT-AT can fire once per round, and it can take out everything in a square. It would have a maximum and minimum range though, and I guess it would need to be severely handicapped to be fair. I'm also not sure how I would handle Hailfires and Gunships.

An outdoor game like you were saying would be cool. You'd need a bunch of line and a bunch of stakes if you wanted to make a grid for that though! Plus, your weapons might end up as lawnmower bait! Maybe asphalt and a chalkline? ;)

Saga '02-'04 / NewForce
« on: August 11, 2003, 10:39 AM »
I ordered the wave 1 screen scenes from Newforce and I'm a bit concerned that Hasbro is going to screw over newforce again like they did with wave 13. This, of course would mean that we end up not getting our orders. Anyone here order these?

I am in hot, sweaty love with all of those figures.  :o :o :o

Now this is Star Wars figure collecting. Not an action feature in sight. Dig that escape pod! These are what deluxe figures are all about. I think I need to go take a cold shower now...

The Original Trilogy / Re: Rebel Uniforms
« on: August 8, 2003, 10:12 AM »
JJ, I don't think Ackbar's uniform is a bridge crew uniform, because (although its from a cut scene) there's a shot of Madine in his briefing-room uniform in the command seat of another Cruiser.

My guess is that Ackbar's uniform is Mon-Calamari specific. And maybe since he's such a key player, he's allowed to do his own thing.

Another (more plausible) idea is that he's wearing an Admiral's uniform rather than a general's uniform.
