The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW Mandalorian Troop Shuttle
« on: February 9, 2012, 09:19 PM »
I have my eye on a Republic Cannon currently languishing at my local Target for 30% off. Once that sucker hits 50%, it's mine.  ;D

The Mandalorian Shuttle just baffles me. Are they really NOT planning to release this to US retail outlets?

Doesn't that seem like a hefty tooling investment for what has become essentially an online and Canadian exclusive?

From the listing here:

It appears that this actually is part of full case assortment, along with the HMP and V-19. Does that imply we might actually have a chance that this will still ship to stores? That seems odd that they would ship new product in the SOTDS packaging.

At any rate, I'm reluctant to overpay for one from an online retailer just for fear of never finding one in the wild, but if that's how it plays out, I'll do it. I just wish I could predict what is going to ultimately happen with this thing. It could be another BARC with Jesse (suddenly everywhere after the fact) or another Scout Bomber (never to be found anywhere, not even on HTS anymore).

They won't show CW Maul because the episode hasn't even aired yet. I suspect we'll see what's been leaked already - Scuba Gear Ahsoka, the 3 new Deluxe sets, and more of Wave 2...bleh.

I don't even care about seeing new toys anymore - I just want to know what the hell happened to some of the old ones, namely the Mandalorian Assault Transport and those Walmart DVD 2-packs. If Hasbro can clear that up for us I'd be thrilled.

I picked up Aurra Sing tonight - totally DTF.  >:D

Looking forward to the vintage carded version as well later this year.

Finally found this whole wave tonight at Walmart on my way home, and my experience was the same as Dressel's - they had exactly one case out on the pegs right by the MH and CW stuff. I see they used a black bottom coloration to differentiate between the other lines.

I picked up the only one I wanted - Aurra, but she looks like a dude. Not a very flattering sculpt compared to the image on the card. Very glad to have this checked off my list though.

Also saw the new Walmart BP's, also in the regular aisle with everything else. The Droid set is kind of sharp.

The line is so lackluster this year, I don't anticipate buying any doubles of anything for opening outside of Cyborg Maul, and maybe Scuba Gear Ahsoka. So it will probably be awhile before I will be able to judge the quality of anything new...

That Toltoys Jawa auction I was watching ended just shy of a grand, still less than half of that AFA one. But very pricey nonetheless...

Yeah, RS was all over that Yakface business. Yikes. It seems like almost everything is a rip-off nowadays.

Picked up the figures from this wave today, the display wasn't in the action figure aisle though. It was by girls toys. Is the drawback new? They had that exclusive as well.

Was it just an endcap display, or one of those standalone 4-way type deals?

I was worried something like this would happen...I hate how Walmart cannot keep all the SW toys in one aisle.

So, Anyone tune in for The River tonight on ABC?

I was all hyped for this awhile back, then completely forgot about it, and just happened to see it was on tonight for the first time. I guess the premier was two episodes back to back and then there are six more left after this.

Sort of a confusing mess, but maybe that is just me. I thought the Smoke Monster ripoff was supposed to be part of the whole series, but they seem to have wrapped that up already. So I guess it's going to be a "weird-jungle-voodoo" freak of the week type deal, moreso than a densely layered allegory ala LOST. Episode 2 felt like Blair Witch Pt 3.

It's an odd collection of characters. Bruce Greenwood is ok, and I like the son and his blonde love interest well enough. But I'm pretty sure the wife is the same actress who played Terri Bauer in Season 1 of 24 and man, I do not care for her. At least she got a better haircut this time around.

I kind of liked the "Quasi Liam Neeson, but not-quite Liam Neeson" guy Kurt, but I guess he is a bad guy so boo. And I can't figure out what the hell is going on with the precocious Latino girl - is she like 13 or 18? Should I feel creepy for thinking she is hot or what? Ugh...

I hit five different Targets today and found ZERO SOTDS Deluxe sets - anywhere.

It's incredible to me how suddenly these things disappeared.

All I know is the trailer they showed during the SB SUCKED out loud.

Apparently they are teaming up to battle a series of randomly exploding cars?

I did not achieve my goal of watching NONE of this year's Superbowl, thanks to that damn SW commercial, but I came close. Guess I am glad the Giants won...probably the only time the Redskins will ever be able to say they swept the SB champs in the season.

Still think I would have been happier if they had kept the lockout going and skipped this season.

Meh, I've got my eye on another out there that is like a quarter of that price.

AFA is a joke.

There is no profanity extreme or vulgar enough to fully reflect my outrage over this abomination.

Any professional in comics with a shred of dignity should have nothing to do with this project.

Complete dollar chasing blasphemy.

Saw the Mobile Artillery Cannon for about 30% off at Target today. Came to about $17.50 or so, very tempting. I tried to sort of stash it behind some less desirable swag in the hopes this store might go down to 50% like all the others around here and I can pull the trigger.

I finally find a Castas Deluxe set last night at Walmart, but it scanned at full price so I left it. Weird.
