The Prequel Trilogy / Re: My Plot Guess
« on: December 9, 2010, 10:04 AM »
The only problem with this teory is that leia has memories of her mother, so how can she possibly die giving birth. she dies when leia is a small child

Oh yeah, I forgot about that detail.

That's easy - she is just remembering Breha Organa, not Padme. That's how I like to think of it anyway.

Huh?  Why don't they exist in ROTS?  Because they weren't mentioned?  That's a really literal way to look at fiction.

1) Dooku has no apprentice in ROTS - not Asajj, not Savage Oppress, etc. You don't just quietly retire from the Sith. She is absolutely dead IMO, because Palpatine would never be stupid enough to have another Sith adept wandering around out there plotting her own agenda. (The whole running away and hiding thing is weak IMO because Palps would still use his Sithy powers to hunt her down and kill her)

2) Cad Bane is seemingly involved in every Separatist plot and personally works for Dooku/Palps on a number of occasions. It's not like they ran out of money or anything, he's a major player and his complete absence by ROTS indicates to me that he is no longer a factor of any kind at all. Again, not the type to just walk away.

If you saw the first half of TPM and then went straight to AOTC, you'd be wondering what happened to Darth Maul too. You'd have to assume he was dead, IMHO. Otherwise he'd be on screen. Same deal.

Just a constructionist viewpoint...a logical short-cut, as it were. Obviously the real answer is that none of these characters had even been dreamed up yet when the PT was filmed...

Apparently it is moving up to 8:30pm EST when the show returns next year as well.

I don't think I like it...9pm was perfect, IMO. Now I have barely enough time to get the kids in bed beforehand, much less go out on my regular Friday night pre-show toy runs.

Sounds like another LOTR vet, other than Serkis, McKellen, and Weaving, may be returning for the Hobbit in some capacity.

Ummm...Why are they adding characters to the movie who weren't in the actual novel?  ::)

This turns my stomach...it reeks of a cheap money-grab, and does nothing to augment the story, which is perfectly fine as originally written.

Hollywood Whores!

I disagree...I think you had better buy these up ASAP, because there will not be many around in the weeks to come. They have been flying off the shelves around here. TRU has been unable to order ANY cases whatsoever in advance of the holiday rush.

I don't think they made a small run, the demand has just exceeded their expectations wildly.

A nice write up at IGN following the screening of the Oppress episodes.  Sounds like they were pretty cool, and a montage for the rest of Season 3 was shown as well with an interesting (spoilery) ending.  He also admitted that Filoni understood the frustrations with all the political stuff, and that there wouldn't be any more scenes in the Senate for the rest of Season 3 (although it is setting stuff up for down the road, which is why so much time was spent on it now).  More at the linky.

1. Even Piell FTW!!!!

2. Clancy "Mr. Krabs/Kurgan/Kelvin Inman" Brown!!! AWESOME!

3. Spoiler - ho-hum. We know THAT's not really going to happen. Not for a long while yet. It's obviously a feint, likely a another dream sequence or some shiite like that.

4. I just don't believe Filoni when he says there will be a pay-off for the interminable Senate scenes. NOTHING could make that garbage worthwhile. You guys got too cute and played yourselves. Hope the second half of the season is back on track, it is entirely possible to ruin a good, successful show with poor, sloppy writing (Heroes, I am looking at you!).

Well, that just plain sucks. I placed my order last night and had to pay full shipping charges. I called back this morning to request a price adjustment but they refused as one item has already "gone to the warehouse" and the two figures I ordered are out of stock/pre-orders. (Nevermind that they were both listed as "In Stock" when my order was submitted last night)

I'm very disappointed with having placed this order, I am basically saving nothing and not even getting 2/3 items I ordered.

Well, I bit the bullet and picked up another Cato and Vos, along with the Droid Tri-Fighter. (The HMP is sold out ALREADY!) Thanks for the tip, Jeff.

I am officially done with Walmart!  ;D

Great...sold out already. I had this in my cart for a week waiting for them to get the Vos wave to push my order over $50 for the free shipping.  ::)

Now that they get the Vos wave back in stock, the Gunship is sold out. Cursed!

If I buy this and get a free Kul Teska, and then return the UBP, do I still get to keep the figure? How would they enforce that? Just subtract the list price of that item from my return I am guessing?

Yeah, excellent catch...I was racking my brain this morning trying to remember where that deco originated. "Grievous Intrigue" - good stuff. Definitely some interesting tweaks to the basic Clone sculpt here. I like.

Well, so much for that.  :'(

This was the best thing I have seen all year on TV, and I am totally going to miss it. If we really have to wait a whole year for new episodes that is going to suck.

Pretty good ending, would have liked to have been left with at least an inkling of where things are heading though.

Seems like at this point, your best bet is to hunker down, find a safe place and wait. They've already noted the zombies are starving, so a few more months and they should have degraded to a near inert level of activity. (the muscles will simply atrophy with a lack of nutrients I would expect)

The scenes in the CDC were mostly good, although again, you've got Joe Scientist standing there and still no one asks how it got started? Where was Ground Zero for the outbreak? I figure at least Rick would have been curious. We're still lacking a lot of key, basic information I feel like.

I still don't get Shane. They continue to show him alternating between noble and despicable, to the point where it's hard to grap the character's moral center. Is he just a good guy slowly going over the edge? Or something darker?

And how does anyone buy that "I must have scratched myself while sleeping" schtick? COME ON.

So why exactly does crew-cut lady have a grenade in her purse? Just thought it might come in handy later? And you weren't worried at all about keeping a potentially unstable explosive device inches from your daughter?  ::)

Did they forget all about Merle? Or the black guy and his son?

Best line of the night:

"That door is designed to withstand a rocket launcher"

"Your head ain't!"

It wasn't great...  I agree with McMetal though that Robonino's partner was pretty cool.  I'd dig picking a figure of him up sometime if they made him, which they will not.

He reminded me of one of the species from Knights of the Old Republic, and I'm wondering if he actually was intended to be that species.  The similarities seemed vast.

Yep, his name is Chata Hyoki and he is indeed a Selkath. Good catch.

I think he would make an outstanding figure too, and I do think this could happen. Hey, if they can do Seripas they can do this guy. Plus you've got the whole cross-property appeal of the video game stuff. (Marketing synergy, as the suits would say)

RE the show:

the two most interesting things to me were the final scene with Palpatine and the reference to Mina Bonteri's death on Raxus.

hey Galactic Senators - ever heard of bodyguards? WTF? You people just stroll around town with no security? You deserve to be beaten!

I don't see how Hasbro can keep claiming TCW is strictly a kid's line when the show is obviously not being aimed at kids anymore. LFL has to be pushing those storylines...I can't see any other explanation.

TCW uber alles!

I'm only into the animated stuff really. The only non-TCW stuff I buy are weird offbeat things based off of Droids or Ewoks. (Like the new Wicket or the Boba Fett/BL-17 2-pack)

Has anyone spotted this Wave at a Target or TRU yet? I am getting severely beaten down hitting multiple Walmarts every day looking for a better carded Vos and Cato for openers. It's been a good 3 weeks or so now that these have been in circulation, that's a pretty good head start for one giant retailer over another. When are the other guys going to catch up?

Around here the wave hit all at once, one case per store, and sold through almost immediately Thanksgiving week. All of the stores that had these here have since restocked 2-3 times but never put out any more Wave 5 cases - just more of Wave 4, revision 1.

Heck, it'd be nice if HTS would restock these already. Any excuse I can find to stop hitting stores this time of year is worth it.
