The Vintage Collection / Re: 2012 - "One EU Figure In Every Wave"
« on: February 10, 2011, 09:08 AM »
Allow me to fire the opening salvo.  ;D

This is great for trawling out much needed figures from Droids, Ewoks, and the Holiday Special.

But do they really need all those slots for D-list schmoes from the comics, novels, and video games?  :P

(runs for cover)

Of course, 2012 makes sense, as this is clearly one of the signs of the Apocalypse.

Is there nothing they won't defile for the sake of the almighty dollar?

And when the heck is HTS going to throw some new SW stuff up for sale?

Co-sign. WTF? They're a wave behind on TCW, 2 waves behind on TVC...there hasn't been a new SW listing since the holidays.

They're like the "Toy R Us" of online stores.

I still don't understand how one dude found the BARC SPeeder w/Jesse a month ago at Wal-Mart and there have been 0 other reported sightings reported anywhere on the Internets since then. I see a buttload of the other Deluxe sets around town with the new promo sticker too.

I saw someone asked about this in the RS forums and no one has responded there yet either. I guess there is next to no interest in that set. Even Hasbro has never acknowledged its existence officially.

Where was an AT-AT for $12 at?

Target, according to the reports I have read.

I think they just missed THE PERFECT solution for writing her out of the story for good while not traumatizing the kids.

It's so simple, it's pure genius:

She should have elected to stay on Mortis to take the place of the Daughter.

I literally got up and shouted it while watching last week's episode, it became so apparent. She serves a greater purpose, they don't have to kill her off, and they have a perfectly satisfactory explanation for why she is not only unseen but never even mentioned in ROTS.

Of course, they would never go for this because it would mean taking her off the show for the rest of the run, which I could easily stand, but they do have the perfect out here.

Well, they have already said there will not be a Clone Wars Mail-In offer for this year, so that's what I really wanted. (Ziro!)

I also think the Boba Fett packaging criticism was completely deserved. As a brand, Hasbro is reponsible for anything and everything related to their internal promotions. They get final say over design, packaging, everything. They did not have that issue with previous mail-away promotions, and it seems apparent they tried to skate by with a cheaper, less reliable alternative and got burned. (They had to know what would happen when these things hit the mass media mail sorters)

I do give them props for correcting the issue.

I am hoping we don't see this ship "transform" on the show in order to give the toy more "credibility"

Funny, I was just thinking the exact opposite. This would be easier to stomach if the damn thing actually did any of that stuff in the show.

As it is now, it just seems kind of like a cheesy reach.

Some more rumor re-hash from JTA:

•Saesee Tiin
•Savage Opress
•Plo Koon (Deluxe Repack/Repaint)
•Kit Fisto (Cold Weather Gear)
•Seripas (Bounty Hunter)
•Stealth Clone Trooper
•Captain Rex (With Jet Pack)

Pretty much all of these have been previously reported, although we got a few more details on Plo and Kit. I think that makes the third figure for each of those guys in this line. Wish they would focus on getting figures made of ALL the major characters before double and triple dipping like this, but whateves.

September 2011?!?! :o

That better be the "Nuremberg Release Date"...

RIP, Tura Satana - a true original. When they made her, they broke the mold. Star of one of the greatest B-movies in American cinematic history.

For you Star Wars nerds, Varla's epic admonition "I never try anything. I just do it." predates Nike and Yoda by at least a decade.  ;D

I agree completely Doc, the SL line is just a useless anachronism now. I can't imagine anyone would shed tears over its extinction.

Sam "Starkiller" Witwer was the voice of The Son?

I did not know that. Will be curious to listen more closely tonight.

I don't want to see any animated figures in that crap line. They already carry forward too many old TCW figures in the new animated case assortments. I don't think anyone is in a hurry to see more Space Helmet Anakins clogging the pegs.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 21 (aka 2011 Wave 2)
« on: February 2, 2011, 09:09 PM »
That makes no sense. The Sandtrooper data was based on the actual cardback photos and numbering. I know those aren't always 100% accurate, like with the Cad Bane in Clone disguise figure, but it would still seem pretty solid. Hasbro must really be doing a lot of last minute shuffling with that line right now.

If true though, it's still a strong wave and Barriss should be outstanding.
