Vintage Kenner / Re: Droids and (shudder) Ewoks.

Awesome, this is part of my ongoing Vintage focus as well. I have all the EWOKS carded and am steadily working my way through the DROIDS lot, although those are way more expensive.

I still need a carded Sise Fromm, C-3PO, A-Wing Pilot, and Boba Fett. And the ATL Interceptor, than I'm done. :)

There's a decent auction on eBay right now for a loose Sise Fromm, Sidious, if you're interested. Might be worth checking out.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: September 7, 2011, 12:54 PM »
So today was restock day for TRU. The closest one did not get a single new SW item in of any kind. CARS 4 way display still loitering in front of the Clone Wars area. Complete waste of time.

Store #2 had the 4 way TCW display up underneath their signage but did not appear to have any new figures at first glance. When I looked closer though, sure enough I spotted a Kit Fisto in Snow Gear. And then I started looking closer and found a Rex with jetpack, and then a Stealth Ops Clone Trooper. Those figures are HARD to spot amidst the sea of crud out there. I still see the old Fistos on the pegs, and plenty of Rexes, and the Stealth Ops dude was literally RIGHT next to Comm Blackout, so good luck spotting that one. (I had to look for the numbering to confirm)

So that is awesome, but sort of curious because they had 2 each of the above figures but no Seripas or Saesee Tiin at all. I can only surmise someone beat me to them in the 30 minutes before I could get there driving across town in a fierce rainstorm.

New trucks due again Friday I think, so maybe better luck then.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Toy shopping in your dreams?
« on: September 7, 2011, 08:58 AM »
That wasn't a dream, you were shopping on hasbrotoyshop.com

Now THAT is funny.  :D

I actually had toy dream last night, probably cause I read this thread yesterday. I was frantically grabbing new TCW figures off a TRU in-store display. They were in some kind of funky new red packaging, and there were a lot of kids milling about that I had to navigate around. I don;t recall ever getting to the register though.

Hopefully that is just a premonition of my morning, as our TRU gets a new truck today and I have high hopes for new figures. We'll see.

Vintage Kenner / Re: Latest vintage acquisition

Amazing scores once again bro, you are having a great summer no doubt. I am extremely jealous of that minty ATL Interceptor! It's the last non-action figure I need to complete my vintage collection. Outstanding work there.

I did just snag a boxed vintage AT-AT on eBay for the price of the new Republic Attack Shuttle. Sort of holding my breath on this one, description was somewhat vague and the photos not the best, but apparently it is complete and in good condition.

For the prospect of picking one up for roughly half of what these usually go for boxed, it's worth the risk IMO. We'll see.

So I finally got to the end of the game for the Wii, and WTF am I supposed to do with Darth Vader? How do you beat that guy?

I have looked around online but can't find any good walkthroughs for the Wii version. Everything is all "platform-jumping" and that gets you nowhere on the Wii version cause there's only one platform and if you jump off you just die everytime.

Tips?

I heard from JTA that Wedge was found at a retail store in Mexico.

And the dude didn't even buy it. He could have fed his family for a month off what he would have made on the secondary market.  :D

Seriously though, Mexico? Come on Hasbro. Now is not the time to address our trade deficit with Wedges.

Awesome IA, lmk if you are looking for any other vintage MOTU stuff, I have boxes of figures, vehicles etc I am looking to get rid of.

I have a few vintage toys I am still looking to re-add to my collection:

Pulsar
Shogun Warriors and Godzilla
ROM Spaceknight

Gets harder and harder to find this stuff on eBay complete and in decent condition.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Star Wars on Blu-Ray

After re-watching the movies again this weekend, there is one horrible glaring issue that has ALWAYS bothered me that they could have easily "fixed" but I'm sure they chose not to.

Boba Fett should NEVER scream like a little girl going into the Sarlacc pit.

That one seemingly insignificant detail just about ruins the whole character to me. Galaxy's most feared bounty hunter, yet he squeals with fear over a giant Venus flytrap. Suuuuure.

Taking that out would almost balance out the travesty of Vader's "Nooo". Almost.

Also, since no one else seems to want to take the hard-liner position, I will. These are not Lucas's movies - they belong to the public now as all great works of art do. It is the imperfections which give movies their character and personality for lack of a better word. (IMHO)

You don't go back and tweak "Potemkin" or "Citizen Kane" just because you can. SW is no different, Lucas be damned. Just my two cents~

Yeah, that was really more of a rhetorical question, I understand the timing but it is an ill-conceived and poorly executed plan at best. Most stores with half a brain would ramp up for a major new display like that and have plenty of product to put out on the pegs, new or otherwise. Even Target got this at first when they did their resets.

Practically speaking, it really does you no good to have a major eye-catching display like that right in the front of the store if the empty spaces outnumber the actual items on the shelf. "Hey Kids! Clone Wars starts again soon, so remember to watch the show but don't bother finding any of the toys here."

JTA feels me:

"The distribution woes are nightmarish and it seems the only people not losing years off of their lives worrying about finding figures are those who are ordering them online. Hmm, that sounds like a splendid idea now, doesn't it? We'll say the same trite thing over and over again. Let's wait and see what happens in a few weeks. But it's very disheartening to wait for product to come that never does."

Word!

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases
« on: September 5, 2011, 08:52 PM »
The local TRU put up their Clone Wars display sometime over the past few days. To call it pathetic would be a gross understatement. It's literally the saddest in-store display I have ever seen. They maybe have 10 figures on the pegs, a mish-mash of Oddball, Cato, and Obis. They didn't even swap out the 4 way displays in the front which are still dedicated to CARS.

NO new figures, no new deluxe sets, no new vehicles. Just old garbage and not much of that.

Even the casual observer would have to scratch their heads and wonder, what's the point?

I am already sick of looking for these new figures, my state seems woefully behind on this stuff for some inexplicable reason.

Not so much a find - my local TRU changed the marquee area in the front to be Clone Wars themed. The graphic is pretty cool - it shows Anakin dueling with Savage Opress, Obi-Wan dueling with Ventress and Yoda and Dooku.

No new product, they essentially moved product from the home location in the boys action figure aisles over to the marquee - maybe they're expecting stuff next week. (one can only hope)

Didn't I read that you found new figures there later? Or am I crazy? Thought I recalled you posting about finding Jetpack Rex or some such thing.

None of the TRU's have reset here of course.

The Vintage Collection / Re: New Hasbro Fans Choice Poll

I think it's horse**** that they stipulate any characters from the Clone Wars that win have to be made in the realistic style.

You've already alienated me from even wanting to participate now, Hasbro.
