We're up higher right now...  Around $1.89...  $1.85's easy enough to find thugh too.

I've not been doing a ton of driving myself though so I've been avoiding the effects lately.

I'm a total loose collector Mosnab, but I have had a slight temptation for carded with these cards.  They really are amazing looking.

However, to me I just can't justify 2 sets of figures to look at...  not right now anyway.  I'll maybe nab something I think is really special looking for a carded keeper, but I doubt it...  My Silver figures will likely be the only carded figures aside from Vintage that I have hanging about in a display.

The $10, I 100% believe, is specialty packaging...  Not the figure itself.

The articulation's considered a "fixed cost" on the overall product, while "limited edition" short-run packaging is a variable cost.  Over the long-haul, both can be lessened should more be produced, but the packaging is supposedly not goiong to be reproduced after this series' first (and thus only) run.  The articulation, should the figure(s) see re-release someday in any format, will be a cost that diminishes over time...

I like to think Hasbro wise enough that, if they're to re-release a Han ANH someday or ANH Leia, that they use these sculpts...  Of course, what's logical and what actually is to occur tend to vary greatly.

The Han and Leia are, without a doubt, the best of both versions.  Neither figure's perfect though....  Han's damned close though.  I'd say closer than the Clone even, which wowed me bigtime.

Deluxe Durge is up in that running as well.  A truly amazing piece of work...

The packaging on the VOTC arguably increases this to $10 value, depending on how you view the paradox of value for yourself, but it certainly is costing Hasbro more to do this "special" packaging.  I just wish we weren't paying for it.

I think the Basic OTC card is miles better myself.   :-\

I'm actually going to pick up the ROTJ set should I see it, as I never got the Emperor from Saga.  Want him for my Emperor's Wrath "chuck em down a hole" Emperor figure.  Stormtrooper's always are nice too.

Still, these are just another in a long line of suckable things to be rehashed throughout this year.

Other Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 1/4 Statues?
« on: July 18, 2004, 11:23 PM »
Sideshow makes other items in the same scale.  I think they're blurring the term "figure" with what these truly are, which are more or less statues.

Hasbro does it as well, when one thinks of the relative unposeability of many "figures" they've made, but they're still called figures by the company.

These will most likely be just nice, large, statues.

Sideshow does some 12" figures that are true masterpieces, and really poseable.  THOSE are action figures.  :)

Hey Bob!  Gave you a welcome in the E1 bootleg thread but glad you came by here to say hi too...

Bob's a top-notch guy...  I can attest to this.  He actually lives only like 20 minutes from me actually.  He does indeed have a very nice collection, and a great focus on Boba Fett (even a dog by the same name  :D ).

I'm glad you've come by and hope you're gonna stick around and become a regular.  You're definitely welcome in my book.

Bob's a super collector...  Lots of stuff.  I really streamline thigns but Bob's all over the board.

Good friends with Bill Cable and many others from the PA and Pittsburgh collecting circles...  Hopefully someone I'll be hanging out with as well as the rest oof the crew from Pittsburgh a good bit out at C3 (god willing I can get there).

Can't say enough good things really...  So welcome Bob, and thanks for finally stopping in.  Any questions or whatever, and you're welcome to ask myself or one of the other staffers around the place.

Take it easy bud!

Believe the hype and multiply by 10 even FG...  That's a nice figure!

None of them are perfect, but he and Leia are quite nice...  Obi's still the nicest Obi you'll ever find to sit in your speeder too.  The only one actually.  I swapped robes on him with an Obi Pilot, and he looks better.  Still plan n making a limper fabric cloak though.  Hasbro must've run out of the material used on Total Control Mace or something.

That figure's robe is perfect as far as texture.

VOTC is selling out here...

K-Marts in my area (at least 3 I was at personally, as well as every other one in the area it seems from local reports) got VOTC in...  3 of each figure for the most part, or more.  They're all gone now from what I can tell.

The figures are really just that good I believe...  Top-notch stuff.

Even the "worse" of the group are still good figures.  That Kenobi's still the only old ben you'll get in a speeder, and with the right cloak looks really quite good.

I'm expecting GREAT things from the final figures really...

12" are out here now...  12" is something I'm ditching, but if I wasn't I'd be all over the Fett.  It's nice I think.

I'm wondering if these will wind up being really easy to get, or if these will turn into such hot items they sell through everywhere steadily?  This should be interesting.  Disconcerting on some of these later figures too. :(

Toy Reviews / NEW JediDefender.com Review: "Bar2-D2"
« on: July 18, 2004, 03:14 AM »
Hey guys and gals, finally we're back with a new review on the front page, and hopefully this'll be the first of many to come in the near future (I know, we're behind on things!  Catch up time!)...

This review is for the amazing "Bar2-D2" figure, or R2-D2 (Jabba's Sailbarge) for its more official name from Hasbro.  :)

So click on through and enjoy...  I have to say, it was a figure I enjoyed.  Probably the best "vanilla" R2-D2 to-date, far surpassing the previous reign of R2 w/holo Leia.  A nice job by Hasbro to make R2 more than a "scene specific" figure.

But, as always, read the review to see what I didn't like about him as well.  No figure's perfect...  Ever.   ;)  :P

I've been wondering about you Matt, and how close that stuff's been to you lately.  I really hope this is taken care of, and that you, Patty, and your home are going to be ok...

I'd be to the breaking point myself...  I couldn't live under conditions where natural disaster was so imminent.  CA just seems to be disaster waiting to happen 24/7.    :-\

I hope you're ok, seriously, and that the fire's contained very soon.

Partly, and partly new.

Arms hands, and possibly the head are new...  Torso, legs, and skirt piece are POTJ Ben Kenobi.

The head I, and others, are having a tough time telling.

Personally, I'm saying it's the POTJ head for now, but it COULD be new.  It's so tough to tell with the holo plastic.

EDIT:

Upon closer inspection, the torsos are REALLY different.  The lower torso (legs/skirt) seem to be all that was reused now that I look at it closer.  The upper body's 100% new though.

The head's definitely a new sculpt...  The arms and cloak are also definitely new.

The lower body though, still sports the hole for his saber hilt even.
