I got these guys carded... FINALLY!

137
Well it was no secret that My wife and I were expecting a baby.
She was born last week. I finally have a chance to settle down and post some pics.

Her name is Veronica.

7lbs 13ozs
19.5 in. long
Born Sept 5th

On a side note, a while back some of you who requested cast were asked to wait till i finished her nursery.
I have pics of that too.

We went with a female superhero theme. If it was a boy i would have got to do a baby star wars theme.

Before:  Plain and empty

During: Paint and trim added

After:

I also made some customs of the characters for decorations.
They were based off the Bratz Babyz. I'll post those later.

Here is what the boarder looks like. All the characters were had dran, scaned and colored. I printed them big for the wal decals and arranged them for the boarder for the room.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: How to cast my Kybuck Steed...
« on: August 29, 2006, 11:34 AM »
From what i see in the pics and remember about this custom, its not articulated.
The legs dont move...right?
Well, if thats the case, your  are really just casting a satue.  So I wouldnt worry about
doing it in pieces.

Follow bens suggestions.  If that gets too difficult, just do two halves and use a slow cure resin/flexible so you can get it into the legs, when pouring and out of the mold without snaping the legs off or tearing the mold.

Good luck.

Thanks Fritz and Finds.

Well  After years and years of reasearch, bugging people on the boards, bugging printers, technicians, paper stores, copy stores....
I am finally able to print directly to cards!!!

No more spray mount, no more self adhesive paper/lables...  insert comic backer & print.

I use White comic book backing boards. I use a laser copier to print directly to the card.
The only problem with this is the card  cant be brown like hasbros.

Here are some reults.

These are custom cards made for Yssane Isard and Admiral Daala figures i made a few months back.

Here are the figs

Here are the backs.

There are a couple places i have to work out lining up my templates...but those are simple fixes.

Like i mentioned, the only issue, is that the card must be white to print to and not brown, so you can see here the
white shows in the cards thickness.

I also made a couple more vintage cards.  Now that have the printing thing solved, i should be cranking these out !!

Let me know what you think!

This is great brentS,  have you tried those SPray texture paints?  You can get them at craft stores.
I think that would make for an easy way to add texture to the buildings.
You could just cover the rough courners with masking tape and spray the entire building.

I like your indepth line of thought TresobYr.   If you can, sketch up some of these concepts.
if not, PM me and i'll sketch em up for ya. It would be great to see some of these ideas on paper.

Daigo, I'm loving you sketches, Good sence of scale in that tower. I'm hoping to have a few more images posted by the weekend.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Making Removable helmets
« on: August 19, 2006, 10:19 PM »
Paul, the second mold is only if you plan on making alot more. You are making a mold of  a hollow helmet.
The first step mold, doesnt get destroyed, its just easier to fill a mold fitted for a hollow helmet, than it
is to pour the thin layer in the first step.

In the first step, heach helmet will be different if you dont pour exactly the same each time.
The second mold is of the "perfect" helmet, so all the casts will then be perfect.

Daigo, great sketches.   I like the rounded less rigid buildings you came up with VS the many very angular ones.  Very good ideas.

Tres, Very good points... Maybe we should give thought to  that more. I touched on it when i mentioned that  the idea of 4 arms  was good for faster mining....

Great imput.  Please offer more.

Isnt it fun!!!

Thanks BrentS.  It makes painting the faces sooooo much easier.
I used to paint the face, then the eyes, mess up the face when i did the eyes.
Fix the face, mess up th eyes, it was never an easy task.
This way is!  I only have to worry about hair and eyes. (lips sometimes)

Thanks guys.

Phalanxx, The cast neck post is exactly what i used.
If you look in the pics,  you will see a bunch of them laying around.
I cut off the ball joint and glue the neck post in it's place.
