Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Clone 3-pk ...does it suffice?

The cost to tool 3 molds (or more) for 3 figures like they did with the AOTC 3-packs though would actually run the company more.

Can't they just pop new heads onto the previously molded bodies?

So long as the armor's identical between the two...  Should work fine then I'd think.  That'd be a good possibility for future sets I'd think actually.  Perhaps the C1 Clonetrooper's helmet would fit the 3-pack Clone's body already even....

Lucked into finding some more for my brother tonight...  Coronation Elrond, Gimli, and Arwen.  I got the Isengard Orc for myself, and there's an Elendil figure that if my brother doesn't take I'm gladly gonna take...  Not sure if he needs him.

Just hope I can find a Shelob sometime soon...  Or I'll just wait for the multi-pack she's in I guess.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Terminator Toy Line... 4" Scale.

Welp, I love the pictures John, thanks...  That's a nicely done figure it seems, lots of points of articulation if my eyes aren't deceiving me, and the word on 2 T-1000's and a "soldier" (is that the guy that goes back to save Sara Connor?), as well as the tank (hell yeah!) rock...  I just hope this isn't the LAST the line has to offer.

On a semi-related note, I have a case of the 4" AvP figures due me now...  Just gotta get the payment to the company, and hopefully these'll arrive here soon.  I'm hoping for something great when I get them...  I don't tend to deal with people overseas, so I'm hoping this just goes ok.  Good feedback, so I should be ok, but one never knows I guess.

No reason they shouldn't though...  The release could depend on sales more than anything, which I can't imagine the Clones being too hard to find this year but I also don't think they'll be the pegwarmers of the season either.

The 4-pack through EE is supposedly limited (curious to see how true that is though), and it's through EE...  I think the gouge there's more from a lack of effort to get a set lower price.

The 3-packs we got were all-new sculpts with surprising number of parts, for $10...  3 re-issued SA figures from the basic line SHOULD happen, it's a matter of will it...  I think if Clones do so incredibly popular at retail this year as we think they will, maybe a retailer with real clout will get army builder sets in for good prices.  Hasbro's said army building's going to get some focus though, so we'll see.  This may be a carry-over beyond just the movie-year's blitz.

To me, pack 3 of the GOOD basic figures into a pack later and ship 'em out as necessary...  Whip in some color variants if it entices people more, but I doubt that'd even be necessary.  This would be something ideal for maybe next year sometime though alongside similar packs for other eras/films.

SA E2 Clone 3-pack
SA VOTC Stormtrooper 3-pack...

Just something that, after a figure gets a basic release, this makes the value of the molds really take off, and the overall cost-per-unit decrease with every case sold to stores.

I got the tablehockey vibe too...

Though, to me, without a real point/goal for them to acheive then I really don't see it as being TOO much fun.  Clanking your figures together saber to saber is fun when you're 10...  Or when you're 27 and you're 100% sure nobody's looking.

But yeah, not too interesting to me...  Basic figures intrigue me more.  If it really adds much to a set or something, cool then...  Otherwise just "eh".  Passable for clearance to me.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Mara Jade
« on: March 1, 2005, 12:27 PM »
I was keeping up with the topic too Paul, thanks for sharing the finished figure.

It's a better head using the Jinx figure I think...  Much more true to the MOTS box cover.  I'm still not sold on the torso though really, only because I think the Star Wars line lends itself better to the overall "look".

I think a torso like Droid Factory Padme's perhaps would've worked better maybe?  I wasn't a big fan of the Joe torso idea ever...  Joes are only good for accessories and heads I've found, though you did blend the lower leg with the Han Cantina upper legs quite well.

As a secondary choice, and I think you used this on your previous attempt, I think the Aura Sing body's superior to grafting a Joe torso as well.

I think the smaller Jinx head would've set better on a smaller SW figure torso then too, and it could've been grafted to the Han legs to make a curvy woman's figure.

The accuracy of the figure seems pretty good though overall...  The paintjob seems pretty good too, keeping true to the character on the box, though the skin seems pale.  Easily could be the camera flash though.

My only other suggestion beyond the torso was perhaps trying to use the Luke Ceremonial jacket over Hoth Leia's...  Leia's is a bit small, kind of untrue to the look on the box, but the Luke's is the exact style.  I don't know if the "exagerrated" chest on the Luke figure (and subsequently his coat) would have benefited fitting her, ummm, "attributes", haha. :)

Good work Paul!  She needs a Dark Kyle to fight now though!

I don't see many MOTS Mara's ever surface with her purple saber.  To me, the purple saber was her trademark more than the Luke saber really...  It gave her some distinction.

yeah, that robe idea's probably one of the better ones Hasbro has tried, so long as it doesn't look odd in person.  It seems cool by all photos seen, so I'm digging it.

A nice answer to the Hasbro inability to make a good cloth Robe.

The irony there is that Hasbro CAN do good cloth robes, they just needed better fabric.  If anyone here got the "Total Control" Mace Windu figure, they know there's a fabric out there that hangs JUST right.  Hasbro never sought to use that fabric on a sewn, removable robe though.  It would've worked perfectly though...  If I could find that exact fabric I'd be sewing up my own Jedi Robes constantly for all these figures that need a good cloth robe.

So Mas Ameda is the Star Wars Gene Simmons?

I wonder if he markets himself on all kinds of merchandise...  Mas Ameda T-Shirts, Mas Ameda Keychains, etc...  Eh, guess not since Lucas would sue him.

That's a cool one Dale...

Having seen that now though, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Hasbro's toy.  That is something I'm officially passing on till clearance.  They did a horrid job.

I love that Lucas must've liked the ARCs enough to carry them over to film on some level...  He calls them Commanders, but I already am just assimilating the EU to the films.

N/P Muftak...  My TIE's are all in a pile at the moment on a shelf.  Those that can be, dismantled.  I wound up with a mini fleet of bombers with nowhere to put them all till I get some good shelving going.  That, I fear, will be quite some time.

Hey Ook,

I have 3 POTJ Fleet Troopers (at least my list I'm looking at does though I am pretty sure it's current) if you're interested.  I'd just want to recoop my cost on them of course.

Send me a PM if you'd be interested,

The Feltipern's a nice one because his first version had the gun all warped.  Easily fixed, but still I hate warped weapons because of the shoddy plastic Hasbro uses...

Oh yeah, and I am very pleased I don't piss with carded figures...  I'd just be irritated beyond belief.
