Watto's Junk Yard / Hyperspace Membership Kit 2005
« on: April 6, 2005, 11:54 AM »
Anyone else get this yet?

It showed up in my mailbox yesterday, but I didn't get around to opening it until today...  :-[

While the "Ewok Animation Cel" I got last year sucked (mine was just 3-4 blue and pink bubbles  ::)), at least it was a great idea to give us a unique collectible that you weren't going to get any place else.  This year's pack is full of "free stuff" aka advertisements and is pretty boring IMHO.

I got this "free stuff":
- Form Letter from GL (thanks for all the money, sucker!  :P)
- Hasbro "dangler" - aka a paper mobile like you made in 3rd grade arts and crafts
- Episode III LEGO poster - actually pretty cool poster
- Code 3 T-shirt iron-on - would be nicer if it didn't say www.code3.net across the front of it  ::)
- WotC Mon Cal mini - already have him...
- Vader window decal - ok, I guess
- Official 2005 Star Wars Fan Club membership card

And then these advertisements:
- GG Bust-Ups trading card - lame
- Sony Ep3 Soundtrack trading card - lame
- $50 coupon for Code 3 - lame
- 20% off coupon for SW Blinds - lame
- Darth Vader Check advertisement - lame

OK, so I did like the LEGO poster, that was kinda cool.  Also, the free WotC mini was nice, but I already have the Mon Cal guy.

Other than the window decal and the membership card, everything else was a direct tie/advertisement to some licensee - Hasbro, LEGO, GG, WotC, Code 3, etc - and was trying to sell me something SW.

It would have been nice if they could have passed out "Droids" Animation Cels or something else lost in those vacuous LFL vaults.  I mean, it's nice they gave us something, but it just would have been nice if it was more than just ads for SW stuff...  :(

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart "Early Bird" Exclusive
« on: April 6, 2005, 09:37 AM »
ok, well after getting lucky and finding all the EB sets I needed (for me and guys in Canada) in person on Saturday and Sunday, I forgot to Cancel My online order.  So I've got a couple extra coming.  If somebody missed this or is out of country and can't buy it online, PM me.  I'd hate to send em back.

Well, don't feel bad.

I did cancel my on-line order for the EB Kit after I found it in person on 4/2, but WalMart.com shipped it to me anyway.

I guess it's nice to see that wal-mart.com is run as well as the regular retail store...  ::)

Anyway, I guess I have one on the way is someone is still looking for one...

I was told that it was a mistake, and that I've been around too long to be banned for someone else's actions.

Yeah, well...

So, even though both Jesse and myself have a year on you, we weren't "around too long to be banned for someone else's actions."   ::)

Of course, we don't have 10,000 posts and we also have a closer relationship with JD (and the offender) than you do Rob since you are a newer staff member.

Apparently, there's "you've been around too long" and there's "you've been around JD too long"...  :P

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: digital photo printing services
« on: April 5, 2005, 05:26 PM »
We've got a place we take all our regular film to get developed (Proex) and we now take any digital stuff to get printed there too until we find a printer we like for home.

They've got one of the "easy to use" set-ups where you plug in your Flash Card and just print photos you want from there.  There is always someone there who can help if things get messed up or something isn't turning out right.

Plus, I've found the quality of the printing and the photo paper at an actual Camera/Photo place is soooo much better than the set-ups at Wal-Mart, Target, Cost-Co, etc.

Sure, you can get $0.09 cent prints at some places, but like the saying goes, you get what you pay for...  :-\

Hooters every night? ;D

I need to be in at least 1 jedidefender hooters gathering photo.

Kevin

You can't get into Hooters, can you Kevin?  If so, then that's a problem, 'cause that's specifically why were going to be hanging out there the whole time...  :P

He can probably get in if he brings his Grandma with him...  ::)

Ain't no party like a Gramma Party!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS ARC-170
« on: April 5, 2005, 11:58 AM »
Did anyone else end up with four extra stickers and no spot on the instructions as to where to put them? This annoyed me.

I finally got around to assembling my ARC last night and I too was left with 4 stickers.

I just used my "imagination" and stuck them on the bottom of the ship since it seemed to be lacking in stickers.  The sticker witht he triangle I stuck on the wing, kinda under where the one on the top wing went.  the other two parallelogram type stickers I stuck on part of the wing in a place where they kinda seemed to go.

If it was wrong, well then I guess it's wrong.    :-X

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets
« on: April 5, 2005, 11:52 AM »
I know the three second wave OT cups were up for sale at Amazon in Japan, but did anyone hear about someone who ordered them and got them shipped to them?

No, no one I know who ordered them (including me) ever got them.  My order was cancelled with a "we are not expecting this anymore" type e-mail.  :(

Did these three cup sets ever come out? Now that we have the three cups from ROTS, it would be great to get them - if just for the cups alone....

No, they were never released.   :(

The early salesman samples popped up on eBay and a few Asian stores took pre-orders only to have them cancelled a few months later.  These 3 cups (and the rumored next wave of Vader, Greedo, Luke) are just another one of those mystery items that dissapeared into the night (like CD-ROM Bespn Dinner Vader).

OK, I have all 3 exclusives in front of me now.

I've got the Target Vader and Holo Yoda figured out... working on the EB Kit now...

Just thought I'd post in here for no reason...

Oh yeah, by the way as long as I'm here -

The LAkers =
7-16 (.304) Since the All-Star break
5-15 (.250) In their last 20 games
3-12 (.200) in their last 15 games
1-11 (.083) in their last 12  games

If they continue at this rate, they'll be winless the rest of the year... :-*

ps.

The Wolves
12-8 (.600) Since the All-Star break
10-5 (.666) in their last 15 games
8-4 (.666) in their last 12  games

Still not making the playoffs, but at least they are trying...  ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target sale = $5.00 for basic figures
« on: April 4, 2005, 03:45 PM »
Man, that's definitely the way to do it, Jeff!

No kidding, any time you can walk away from Target with 56 figures for $208.74?  :o

It boggled my mind that I saved $148.50 off the original $5.99 price at Target or even $103.77 off the Wal-Mart $5.24 price...  ;)

The savings will go towards the Celebration 3 Hooters activities budget.

Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but I was unaware that the first 56 figures were out already??

What I meant was that I bought 56 figures total - 1 to open, 1 to keep carded of the first 28 which was all they had at my local Target.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.   :-[
