Revenge of the Sith / Re: Anakin Starfighter Exclusive?
« on: March 28, 2005, 04:53 PM »
There were rumblings a while back that the Starfighter would come with an Anakin figure - that was what everyone thought would be the preview set. Then that was scaled back and the preview was vehicle only. Shortly after that, I did hear rumors that the ship would come with an Anakin figure in a window-box just like Obi-Wan and his starfighter did for AOTC. The exclusive this time would go to TRU instead of KB.

Yeah, I remember hearing about those rumors of an Anakin Pack-In with a later version of the starfighter too....

Maybe that is all this is - The Sneak Preview Starfighter plus one of the Ep3 Anakin figures?

classic reproductions of the first four original Star Wars action figures from 1977

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like they might be re-doing the vintage figures to me, kinda like the PotF2 4-pack way back in 1995.  Then again, who knows?  It's probably just wishful thinking on my part...

Maybe it will turn out to be the vOTC figures thanks to Hasbro's desire for repacks/rereleases to lower costs on things like this, despite the fact that they said all last year, "honest, we swear, it's this time or nothing for the vOTC.  You'll never see them again".  Yeah, right...  ::)

But as it stands, $30 for either the 4 vOTC figures I already have loose OR 4 vintage repros I don't really need since I have the vintage versions?  No thanks.

I'll be passing on this one... and, now, the only way I go to Wal-Mart on 4-2 is if Target doesn't send me a $1 off coupon.  If I do get the coupon from Target, then that will be the ONLY stop I make on April 2nd.   ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Can You Break the Emperor's Code?
« on: March 28, 2005, 04:22 PM »
Yet another thing to complain about this weekend...  ::)

From Hasbro:

Can You Break the Emperor's Code?

Quote
The Emperor's Code is hidden on each of the 3 STAR WARS EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH Exclusives available at Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys "R" Us stores.

Locate the hidden code on each toy, figure out what it means, enter the code into the vault website and you could win an Emperor's Code Breaker T-shirt.  But more importantly, figure out The Emperoro's Code and you'll reveal the evil plan to take over the galaxy...

Does Hasbro actually expect any kids to get their hands on these 3 exclusives from Wal-Mart, Target, and TRU?  Seriously?

What the hell?  Whoopee!  I'm a giant nerd identified by my Emperor's codebreaker T-shirt!   :P

This totally rings of B-E-S-U-R-E-T-O-D-R-I-N-K-Y-O-U-R-O-V-A-L-T-I-N-E...  ::)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Collection 1 Figures
« on: March 28, 2005, 03:55 PM »
If you look at the "Action Toy Arena, they have most of the figures sorted out by Collection...

and yeah, since he is in collection 1, the Wookiee has an action feature:

"Squeeze legs together for Battle Bash!"  ::)

Oooh... and the Nemoidian Warrior has one too:

"Squeeze legs together for POWER SMASH!"   ::)

At least the clone just says "14 points of articulation" and makes no mention of an action feature!   ;D

Don't know if these are technically Collection 1 or 2, but these look all sorts of cool:

Since they are technically scheduled for Collection 1, I'm moving this one over to the Collection 1 thread...  ;)

As for Philip, I think his comments, especially this one particular paragraph, much better convey anything that I could possibly say regarding how they feel about their members...

Kinda scary really.   :-\

"Get a life and move along. "

What a positive way to run a SW Forum.   ::)

He still didn't address why he sent the spam to those who DID "get a life and move along" after having their accounts locked/banned.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Holo Yoda?
« on: March 28, 2005, 03:12 PM »
And to complete the set, here's the Hasbro update on TRU:

April 2nd at TRU

Nothing that wasn't in the press release earlier today, but they do confirm the April 10th date for Holo Yoda, NOT Midnight Madness.

Hasbro finally gets around to letting us know about the exclusives... or rather Lava Vader that we've known about forever.   ::)

April 2nd at Target

Nothing about the other rumored exclusives (cups, clones, etc).

Hasbro FINALLY gets around to trying to level out the confusion about these...

And, for a limited time only, collectors will be able to purchase (while supplies last) the Wal-Mart "Early-Bird" Exclusive - classic reproductions of the first four original Star Wars action figures from 1977. When consumers purchase the Early Bird, they receive a certificate that they mail in to get the four Star Wars action figures: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. This mail-in figure promotion was done back in 1977 for the original Star Wars movie and Wal-Mart and Hasbro are bring it back to celebrate the last movie in the saga. As of March 5th, there are 1304 Target stores...
1304 Stores * 36 figures/store = 46,944 Lava Vaders (at least)

That jives with the reports that say that right on the Vader figure it says "1 of 50,000".

I guess I am not surprised that out of 1300 stores, 1 or 2 or even 10 can't follow directions.

Even if 50 stores screw up and put them out early, that still means that 96% of the stores are following the rules...

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Spanish Magazine Scan: Death Star
« on: March 28, 2005, 01:38 PM »
Maybe Papatine used the power of Six Sigma to streamline his processes for Death Star Construction?

You know, all of his "process improvements" added up allowed him to reach a much tighter construction entitlement of only 3-4 years instead of 18 years?   :P

I imaginge that once you build ONE Death Star, you've got all the kinks worked out and can do a much better job the second time around...?

Ultimate Villian Darth Vader 12" Figure x $29.99? + 6% sales tax = $31.79[/li]

Does anyone know if my prices are off for anything?

They all look pretty close to what we've heard so far, with the exception of the 12" Ultimate Anakin/Vader.

The Hasbro MSRP = $49.99, and Amazon.com had it listed for about the same.  I think it was in the Target and TRU computers for around $40-45.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Holo Yoda?
« on: March 28, 2005, 11:18 AM »
This just in from today's TRU Press Release:

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith Holographic Yoda Figure from Hasbro

Jedi Master Yoda, a close friend of the Wookiees, travels to their homeworld of Kashyyyk to help personally spearhead the Republic defense of that planet. While there, the revered Jedi sends a holographic transmission to the Jedi Council to discuss recent ominous events. The Holographic Yoda figure features unique translucent styling and is available only at Toys "R" Us beginning April 10 as a gift with a Hasbro Star Wars purchase of $25 or more. Not sold separately. While supplies last. No batteries required. Ages 4 and up.

No need to go to midnight madness I guess if they won't even have Holo Yoda yet...  >:(

I don't even want to guess...  :-\

If they have figures through #40 as some are saying, well that's:

38 for carded collection (counting both Red and Blue guard, minus the 3 I grabbed early - yoda/tarful/r2)
41 for loose collection (counting both Red and Blue guard)
6 extras to open (Army builders for guards & clones)

Then, we add in:
4x deluxe figures
2x small vehicles
1x large vehicle

That brings us to:
approx. $474.35 for 85 basic figures ($5.24 at Wal-Mart)
approx. $46.82 for 4 deluxe figures
approx. $23.41 for the small vehicles (BARC, Boga)
approx. $31.94 for the ARC-170

Grand total = $576.52

Of course, it will be more if they have the Mustafar playset or other stuff...   :(
Or, it could be less (by about $25) if I get the Target coupon...  :)
