Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Re: New Reply Indicator
« on: July 19, 2005, 01:54 PM »
Quick idea/suggestion:

One feature I enjoyed from RS was the "new reply" indicator next to each topic.  It makes it a lot easier to see which topics have been responded too since my last visit.

Yeah, I think we have those -

= a Forum with No New Responses
= a Forum with New Responses

Inside each Forum, threads with new replies are marked with a .

Is that what you meant?   :-\

edit - after popping over to scum, I think I know what you mean... Do you mean how each thread has a number in parenths beside it?  Like this?

Replies
129 ( 8 )

Where the ( 8 ) tells you exactly how many new replies there are, instead of just using the which tells you there are new replies, but just not how many.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Commander Cody
« on: July 19, 2005, 01:49 PM »
On the subject of Cody, I'm going to go on record here with what I would want (although I'm having trouble figuring out where Hasbro is going to put him if he's not in any of the "battles" they're using as the basis for next year's waves:

-Super Articulated body (a given)

-Removable Helmet (again, I'd think this is a given)

-Palpatine hologram (this would be along the lines of the Dooku DS Hologram from the Geonosian War Room Saga set; if it won't be steady enough without warping his hand so he can't hold weapons, they can do the hologram as part of Cody's hand, and make that hand interchangable with the other, gun totin' hand)

-Obi-Wan's lightsaber hilt

I love your ideas.  Sounds good to me!

As for where he goes, I could see him in the Battle of Coruscant Wave - I think technically the briefing was in orbit around Coruscant before Obi-Wan jumps to Utapau, so that's close enough to the "Courscant Battle" for me...  ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Battle Packs (5 figure sets)
« on: July 19, 2005, 01:46 PM »
Did anyone notice the "removable helmet" in the trooper 5-pack?

Are all of the removable helmet version?

You mean from this picture?

Don't get your hopes up, the packaging shown is just a prototype at this point.

In fact, the text on the front of the Clone Trooper 5-Pack Mock-Up used in the photos is the same as the Rebels Vs. Empire pack.  The removable Helmet it is talking about on the box is for the Darth Vader in that set.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Hasbro SDCC 2005 QnA
« on: July 19, 2005, 12:07 PM »
A few days ago, I was in total agreement about the disappointment of repacks and repaints that will end the ROTS line.  But considering that the first 56 figures were all new sculpts, having 12 more repaints (and another 3 variants) isn't bad at all, at least in my view.

Actually, don't forget the variants we already got - Royal Guard (Red/Blue) and Wookiee (Tan/Brown).

So, we got:
56 new basic figures (#1-56)
5 variants (#6, #23, #33, #34, #43)
12 repaints (#57-68)

73 basic figures from April to October (6 months) is a TON - it doesn't even factor in the deluxe, pack-ins, etc.   :o

Hall of Justice / Re: DC Direct Figures
« on: July 19, 2005, 11:47 AM »
Well, I caved in and ended up picking up a DC Direct Kilowog for two reasons.

1) I decided my GL Line Up wasn't complete without him
and
2) I heard about this guy at SDCC:

As a Looooooooong time fan of Green Lantern, I can't believe that I finally will have a shelf with action figures of my top 3 favorite GLs - Tomar Re, Kilowog, and Salakk.  It's like I just won the Green Lantern Lottery or something.   ;D

I guess I'll just have to start wishing for a few more now... how about Katma Tui to go with John Stewart!

Saga Collection '06 / Re: EE Exclusive Astromech 5-Packs
« on: July 19, 2005, 10:05 AM »
Hmmm, I guess I'm confused then.

So it's Mike that runs GH and works with EE and Hasbro?

Why does Adam's name always come up when there are talks about EE exclusives and what not?  Is he not the one who is spearheading the whole thing??

 ???

Mike Sullenger owns GalacticHunter.com.  From the GH Staff Page:

"Mike Sullenger
(Creator, Editor-In Chief, Photographer)
Michael Sullenger is best known for his previous creation, the popular Star Wars collecting website CollectStarWars.com, which along with its Bounty Hunter Collective discussion forums, grew into a popular spot for collectors online for more than two years. Galactic Hunter is a result of his vision and desire to not only provide a good resource for news and information on Star Wars collectibles past and present, but to build a community online which collectors can call home."

Adam Pawlus is one of Mike's Staff Members over at GalacticHunter.

Again, from the GH Staff Page:

"ADAM PAWLUS
(Associate Editor, Reviews, Q&A)"

Recently, Adam took a job working for EE as a catalog writer.  So, Adam now works for both GH and EE, giving them an in with EE and ultimately Hasbro.  It is Adam's job with EE that got him involved with the Astromech set, that's why his name is popping up.

And just to clear things up EVEN FURTHER, Adam Pawlus is not ADAM (aka Adam May) who built the Tradefederation.net website and occasionally pitches in to help them out with news from time to time.

Hope that clears things up for ya!

« on: July 18, 2005, 02:09 PM »
Six figures, hmmm.  My guesses/wish list:

3 NEW Figures:
Commander Cody - no brainer, if he is coming next year, it'll be here
Padme (pick any one of the RotS outfits they haven't done yet)
Anakin Skywalker (Starfighter Pilot) - Like the Red Leaded Obi-Wan w/nice rubbery cloak and headgear

3 Repack/Repaint Figures:
Clone Trooper (Gray Highlights)
General Grievous (either the SP or RotS versions)
RotS Battle Droid (Blue/Pilot)

Some interesting highlights from the Hasbro 2nd quarter report that was released today:

 - Net revenues up 11% to $572.4 million, compared to $516.4 million a year ago, driven by strong performance from STAR WARS products;

 - Toy segment net revenues up 25%, reflecting strong performance from STAR WARS products

 - Revenues in the U.S. Toys segment were $209.3 million for the quarter compared to $167.2 million a year ago, reflecting a strong performance from STAR WARS

 - International segment revenues were $210.2 million for the quarter compared to $179.2 million a year ago, reflecting strong performance from STAR WARS

Apparently, the RotS line is doing well so far.  Of course, these sales were at a peak traffic time of retailer re-orders and such for Summer/Fall product.  It will be interesting to see how fast the numbers fall off next year with no more movies to come...

We all heard the rumors before Comic-Con, but Hsbro was silent and playing coy.

Rebelscum however claims to have more info (please take this as purely rumor for now):

Quote
While it's still very early in the development stages, and a lot depends on if retailers are willing to pick it up, here's a list of toys in the works (of the 12 that are planned):

Luke Skywalker / X-Wing Fighter
Darth Vader / TIE Fighter
General Grievous / Wheel Bike
Obi-Wan Kenobi / Jedi Starfighter
Boba Fett / Slave 1
Darth Maul / Sith Infiltrator
Anakin Skywalker / Jedi Starfighter
Snowtrooper / AT-ST
Clone Trooper / ARC-170 Fighter
Emperor Palpatine / Star Destroyer
Jango Fett / Slave 1

If all goes as planned, these should begin appearing early in 2006.

Egad, that sucks!  Isn't Toy Biz trying/tried this with the Marvel figures?   :-\

Figures that transform into vehicles?  Since when was Luke of Anakin a robot?    ::)

If this pans out, there is no way I'll buy these.  No way, no how.

IMHO, yet another lame ass concept coming from Hasbro - stop trying to force new lines on us and use that development money for NEW 3.75" stuff!   >:(

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Naboo Wave
« on: July 18, 2005, 11:32 AM »
Hmmm... 8 figures in this wave?  Again, I'll assume a 50/50 split for NEW/repack.

4 NEW Figures:
SA Obi-Wan Kenobi (Final Jedi Duel) - soft goods cloak, lightsaber, hilt, commlink
SA Qui-Gon Jinn (Final Jedi Duel) - soft goods cloak, lightsaber, hilt, commlink
SA Droideka - w/clear blue shield and the ability to fold up a bit
Bravo Squad Naboo Pilot - pick one of those ILM cameo guys and give them a figure

4 repaint/repack figures:
Gungan Warrior (the one from the Faambaa)
Captain Tarpals
Queen Amidala (Battle)
PotJ Battle Droid (Boomer Damage version)

That would work just fine...  ;)

Saga Collection '06 / Re: EE Exclusive Astromech 5-Packs
« on: July 18, 2005, 11:20 AM »
This is kind of a neat idea, and if there are some new molds sprinkled into the sets, they'll have a winner on their hands...of course, the price will have to be somewhat reasonable which is the part that worries me.

And I hope they don't go crazy on the packaging, the clone sets were WAY overdone - we wanted white mailer boxes and got freakin gold (double boxing adds A LOT of cost to the product).

The packaging will most likely be fancy window box because Hasbro and EE both know that if it's in a fancy window box they will appeal to the packaged collectors more than a plain white mailer box.

And, according to the info I recieved today, there are no new molds in this set just re-paints of existing molds.

Imperial Pack:
R3-T6 = PotJ Sneak Preview R3-T7, repainted white with red markings
R4-E1 = PotJ R4-M9, repainted white with red markings
R4-A22 = PotJ R4-M9, repainted white w/orange markings
R2-Q2 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, repainted gray with white/black markings
R3-T2 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, R2 colors with red dome

Rebel Pack:
R2-A6 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, repainted white with green markings
R2-X2 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, repainted black with white markings
R2-C4 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, repainted white with red markings
R2-M5 = RotS Sneak Preview R4-G9, repainted white with yellow markings
R3-Y2 = PotJ Sneak Preview R3-T7, repainted green with white markings

as always, while this is the current plan, all info is subject to change by the whim of Hasbro

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Commander Cody
« on: July 17, 2005, 11:55 PM »
...or a red clone commander that wasn't in the movie, and a green repaint for that matter...

Well, we got the #33 Red Clone Commander because when Hasbro was working on the figure line-up for RotS that is what Commander Bly looked like according to the Official Site Database.  #33 was going to be Bly.

Then, we got the #33 Green Clone Commander because it was an easy re-paint and Hasbro has proven that's what Fall will be all about for RotS - easier than a new sculpt.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: July 17, 2005, 11:38 PM »
Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures

OK, here we go with my guesses/wish list.  I'll assume 4 new figures and 3 repack/repaints for this wave of 7.

4 NEW Figures:
SA Mace WIndu - easy choice
SA Jango Fett - easy choice
SA Arena Battle Padme w/Blaster - again an easy choice
ANY other new Jedi we haven't seen yet (Bultar Swan or that Weequay Jedi Guy)

3 Repaint/Repacks:
Saga Coleman Trebor - recognizable repack of an alien Jedi
POTC Pablo Jill - ditto above
SA Clone Wars Clone Trooper - with a geonosis "dust" red paint wash

I'd like that please Hasbro!

Jeff
