Well of the Souls / Re: Recent Purchases
« on: November 4, 2008, 06:01 PM »
Received my motorcycle w/sidecar from Marauder Inc. today. Henry Sr. fits perfectly in the sidecar. Sucks Hasbro couldn't get this set made, but at least there's this set to fill the void.

I got mine the other day. I'm very, very happy with it! ;D

Are you guys talking about this?

I know it's only $5 but any photos you can share with Indy and Henry Sr. in the vehicle would be very helpful.

Thanks!

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2008/2009 Evolutions Sets

The Rebel Set II was a pain in the ass to find here in MN until recently. I finally started seeing this set (along with the Imperial Pilot set) regularly at TRU, and never at Target, over the last month.

Yeah - same experience for me as well. On launch day I scored one of these at a Target. Never saw this set again at a Target. Never saw it at a WM, but then all of a sudden back in the beginning of September, this set started to show up in good quantities (along with the Imperial set) in TRU.

IMHO it's the best set out of the four new ones. The helmet on Cesi is fantastic how perfectly it fits and Farlander is a figure I've been wanting for quite some time.

I did enjoy the Y-Wings in the episode, and I love messing around with them in various video games. (Empire at War, Battlefront) It's easily one of my favorite ships from the Saga and in my collection. However, I can't say that I would buy a toy. I feel that the Y-Wing doesn't really mesh with the rest of the Republic armada. I almost think that it would've been coller to see as a Seperatist ship. The ARC-170 will fill the Prequel fighter/bomber role in my collection.

Good point Greg. It would have almost made sense to see them using ARC-170s in this episode instead - almost like "hey this is the first squadron of ARC-170s, let's try these things out"

I think it would have been much cooler to start to showing Seperatist forces as something other than Grievous and droids.

My biggest problem with the episode was that in ROTS, you get the sense from the dialogue between Obi-Wan and Grievous that when they face-off on Utapau, it's the first time they've ever fought, well now supposedly it isn't, so the dialogue doesn't really fit (IMHO).

Second, if a massive ship like the Malevolence had been taken out after only a short period of time in service, how did Grievous get such a stellar reputation? In fact, the movie realm of Star Wars would have seen Count Dooku or Darth Sidious rip Grievous apart with the force over this failure.

I would have been much better if the Malevolence had been commanded by a biological Seperatist General (like Whorm Loathsom) who employed a mix of droids and militia from his own world. The Y-Wings could have been ships from his world. Heck, make him a Sullustan, it would have much more sense to have them be the origin for the Y-Wing since we already know that (a) Sullust was part of the Confederacy of independent systems and (b) that Sullustans were active in helping the Rebel Alliance.

I like the show so far, but they really need to stop the whole Confederacy = 100% droid soldiers. Or coming up with the "new droid of the week" like they did with the Rookies episode.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: TRU Clone Wars "Wampa" ARC-170

Actually, when TRU has a "sale" it's usually something like spend $X and get ABC for free. Like a buy-two-get-one-free kind of deal.

But that's kinda mute now - I just got TRU's "Biggest Toy Book Ever" and on the back of mine there were three coupons:

$10 off a purchase of $100 or more valid 10/26 - 11/30
$10 off a purchase of $100 or more valid 12/1 - 12/31
Free $10 Gift Card with a purchase of $75 or more valid 10/26 - 11/30

Since I also still need to pick up some Wave 1 Saga Legends to finish off that sub-line, I can always pick up one or two of them each time I make a purchase just to push me over the threshold to qualify, so for example...

Purchase #1:  Score two of the "Wampa" ARC-170 ($90) and throw in two Saga Legends figures ($16) as soon as I see the ARC exclusive - get $10 off that purchase. Since I need to get the figures anyway, as I see it that brings the ARCs down to $40 each instead of $45.

Purchase #2: Score one each of the V-Wing and Hailfire Droid exclusives (guessing $60 there), so throw in another two Saga Legends figures ($16) and use the other coupon that expires at the end of November to get a free $10 gift card. (Here I'm hoping that the stores will get those exclusives before the end of the November)

Purchase #3: Once December 1st rolls around, score my opener Hailfire Droid and V-Wing Repaints which again assuming the price is $30 each and I'm sure by that time I'll easily be able to score some new Comic 2-packs or the two battle packs that are just hitting now or anything else that may have hit like TLC Wave 4 or TCW Wave 3, etc... to bring that purchase up to anything over $110, so I can use the $10 gift card AND the $10 off coupon.

So it's not really a "sale" but it's $30 worth of savings that I can get if I spread the purchases around. That's all I meant.

Yeah, the Grievous doesn't make much sense, I'd rather have seen a BD commander repaint myself.

Yes, this would have made much more sense than the Grievous figure pack-in.

I'm also surprised that they didn't save the V-Wing as a Legacy Collection exclusive and pack a Black & Gray version of the Evolutions ROTS Clone Pilot. If they wanted it to be a Clone Wars exclusive then it should have been a "dirty" version of the V-19 Torrent fighter instead. Have the V-Wings even appeared yet in the cartoon?

Wow - for $45 we get a Wampa Head Sticker?!?

At least with the "Lucky Lekku" Gunship that is printed/stamped on the mold and has a cool weathered look that you'd never get with a sticker.

Definitely going to space out buying this guy - perhaps make sure I get my MIB one now and then wait for sales/discounts/whatever closer to the holidays to pick up a second one - you know this puppy will be around for a while.

Does TRU have any other exclusives or vehicles coming out soon? If not then yeah, this thing will be around for a while. Heck, just the other day I saw more White TIEs and the STAP attack and Hoth Patrol battle packs. Not exactly running through those too quickly. Not to mention the fact that I can still easily pick up the Holo Grievous figure too.

I found this pack at a local WM this weekend, and decided to pick it up.  I know we always say it, but why didn't Hasbro just release this Anakin in the first place?  Its got articulation in the legs, and is closer to an "ultimate" toon Anakin than the previous version.  Of course, then they couldn't sell us this new battle pack as easily :P.  I'm sure we'll see an improved version of the Obi-Wan around the corner now as well.

Agreed - this is the Anakin we SHOULD have gotten back in July. No reason NOT to have the figure sporting articulated knees from the get-go.

In fact, I would have bought more than one of the first release Anakin just so I would have an Anakin that I could put into the new Yellow JSF. Now I'll just wait for the Monestary set figure to show up on a card or packed into another vehicle. Personally, I wish this was the version of Anakin coming in the Target UBP.

I wish they have given this treatment to the Obi-Wan figure that came in the Target set. Heck, all you need to do is give him the Clone Trooper legs and add a cloth skirt and you're done. It shouldn't be that hard really.

Wow the TRU ARC-170 is out already? Ouch, turning out to be a pretty expensive October after spending next to nothing in September!

2604
I found it at Target today.  It's a nice set, but at $23.70 or so after tax, all the value of the battle pack is gone.  It's more like finding a 4 figure wave at nearly $6 each.  :-\

Yeah - I picked up one of each of the new battlepacks this weekend at WM and I noticed that the price on them jumped by $2. So instead of $19.76, they were $21.76 = $5.44/figure - the battlepacks are precariously teetering on the verge of no longer being a good value.

I thought the reason why we lost one figure per pack was to keep the packs at the $20 price point.

We all know what happens next - hitting the $25 price point on these won't be considered that big of a deal anymore.

1x Assault on the Shield Generator Battle Pack
1x B'omarr Monestary Battle Pack
1x Saga Legends Blue Clone Officer
1x Saga Legends Green Clone Officer
1x Saga Legends Yellow Clone Officer
1x Saga Legends Darth Vader
1x Saga Legends Darth Maul

1x Saga Legends Shocktrooper
1x Saga Legends 501st Clonetrooper

I think that's about it - pretty expensive weekend...

Well of the Souls / Re: Indy 5-New Figures?
« on: October 12, 2008, 09:27 PM »
I think Indy V is the only way we will see the rest of the RotLA figures made.

They will release two cases of figures: Case #1: RotLA Wave #2; Case #2: Indy V Wave 1

After that I would be willing to bet that they'll try a 3rd wave that brings in figures from all of the other previous movies, characters such as Donovan, Marcus Brody, Mac, Marion (from Crystal Skull), Dietrich (if he doesn't get squeezed into Case #1 above), Oxley, Willie (red sequin dress), Indy in tuxedo, Lao Che, etc... - it will be a wave of figures that they want to do, not a movie themed wave 'cause that would back them into a corner when it came to character choices.

I think they'll also release a few deluxe figures, perhaps they'll even try to give us things like a ToD Mine Cart or TLC Motorcycle w/Sidecar.

Let's hope we don't have to wait 10 years to find out!

What ever happened with these?

They never came into stock at my local Target stores. Are they online exclusives and I just missed them?

Got my Fabric Canopy Truck and Mutt w/Motorcycle from Hasbro Toy Shop today.

Nice to finally have the Mutt w/Motorcycle figure. This should have been how Mutt was released from the beginning - just remove the head with the glasses and put on a regular head - skip releasing him carded entirely.

I just ordered the soft-top truck from Hasbro Toy Shop. I doubt I'll ever see it locally and since I'm not collecting the line to have a MIB/MOC set, I really could care less what shape it comes in as long as the toy is okay.

I also ordered the Mutt Williams w/Motorcycle deluxe and the Akator playset. I used the PONY10 code and basically got everything coming to me for only a few dollars more than retail. Better than continually checking the IJ toys locally only to find nothing I need.

Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 3.75" - 2008 Wave 4 (ToD)
« on: October 2, 2008, 03:07 AM »
It's more important to me now.  Now I want to make sure that I get all of the figs!

Agreed - if you've been collecting the line since it launched in May, getting the ToD is the most important addition you could make to that collection so far.

I'm holding out hope that HTS is going to be expected to sell through a good amount of the ToD wave. I also keep hoping that WM will get them in (even though my local WMs have marked the figures down to $5.44).

I've been seeing the Last Crusade wave more and more lately - and I mean them all, I saw an Elsa and Vogel just the other day. So it's not like the quantities weren't made of Wave 3 - hopefully it was too late to cut the Wave 4 production short and there will be plenty of them to be had.
