That Mace is a good example Weaver...  So's R5.

This line's put out a WHOLE lotta crap in its decade + on the market.  Completists can weep at the thoughts of what they bought. :)

I'd almost forgotten that attrocious Saga Hoth Rebel Trooper too...  Somehow worse than the POTF2 figures.  Amazing.

The stands are nice and simplistic.  At the same time though, the stands and minis are a cost...  That's what bothered me about them overall.  Figures have declined in quality this year compared to last, prices went up, and while I like getting stands and minis just fine, I could do without them if it meant better figures or better prices...   :-\

That with 2 nicely articulated "battledamaged" figures would be great...  Not in the Unleashed style though with pre-posed figures.  SA Luke and Ani Mustafar Duel figures would be quite nice with a base like that though.

Why is it that the flag is in Enligh rather than Aurebesh? This guy looks pretty good other than that one little detail, I may get 1, and only 1. If this guy had been at retail I would have picked up around 20.

My opinion too Ryan...  I'd have liked it all spelled in Aurabesh, but at the same time I'd have bought a TON of this figure at basic retail but as an overpriced exclusive I'll stick with one I guess...  If it's not horribly hard to find and priced, I'd get two.

The Nazi-ish look of the standard bearer accessory and stuff really is kind of unique and neat.  I like the match to real-world history there with Imperials, and this figure taking that a bit further.

Of course it's going to be ungodly priced though, so I'll get one and that's it.  The banner is quite neat though.  That's a nice accessory.

I got one...  Kinda wanting a 2nd though.  It's not a bad figure honestly.  The price though....  Even on a group order, they're coming in at a butt-reaming $17 each after shipping.  Sheesh.

Buy your Sun Fac's...  Buy many.  They're a good worthy army builder.  I'd say they're on-par (or better) than the AT-AT Driver IMO at this point.  You get 2 weapons, pop his wings off and he's another warrior...  If you can get past his eye scar, he's really one of the better army builders.

The leg articulation isn't bad due to their physiology too.  I can get mine in walking poses, running poses, lunging poses, standing neutral...  And arm articulation is as perfect as it can get.

With 2 unique weapons for Geo carniage, it's a great figure, so buy it while you see it.  I wish I'd been able to capitalize on Sun Fac's during the TRU sale but alas he's not at TRU's here.  The only place I see him is Target and in sparse supply in my area.

I've got around 10 I think...  I'd like a large number more though.  I'm hoping to run into a lot at WM to put on lay-away.

Toy Reviews / New JD Review: Sun Fac
« on: April 20, 2006, 12:14 AM »
Finally a figure I don't wind up disappointed in at the end of the review... :)

This week I took a long detailed look at the Geonosian warrior guy, Sun Fac!  Check out the Full Review Right Here to get all the details on this one, but I for one am happy to say I liked this figure a LOT.  Enough it's one I've been willing to bite the bullet on and army build despite the ass backwards prices at retail right now.

Sun Fac is a specific Geonosian in the films, though they all look alike so it's tough to tell who is who really.  Still though, the distinguishing mark for Sun is his right eye scarred shut.  I didn't even notice him in the films honestly, so I don't really know who he is, but the eye does set him apart from regular Geo's...

If you can look past that little detail, or even paint a full eye on, you're set with one poseable army builder figure for your AOTC set-ups.  He also comes with a great sculpt, paintjob, and 2 nice accessories...  If Amanaman had a pike like this figure's, there'd be no gripes about him as a figure really.  For once Hasbro used good plastic.

Anyway, Sun's a good figure...  And thanks to the Geonosian's physical looks/style, the ankle articulation is more versatile than on other figures, and serves to make a much more poseable toy.  The figure has no better articulation than Sora Bulq ultimately, but turns out to be a much better figure overall.  That makes him the surprise hit of the year to me.  He's worth having a couple of...

Oh, and if you pop his wings off, you've got a regular Warrior too...  Very nice.

So buy up, and enjoy!

4 Utapau Clones...

I've yet to catch VTSC anywhere.  Jon, can you let me know (PM if you'd like) price you got the VTSC at WM by chance?  If not it's ok, I'm just curious since that's the first I've heard of Vintage at WM.

BTW our WM's got figures in man...  Finally.  Every one in the area seems to have gotten those 36 figure cases.  Some got less than others it appears, but all at least got one case in...  And of course got picked over irght away and nothing any good was at them but the 4 Clones I ran into.  :)  It's ok, it wasn't a toy run anyway.

Funny though that stuff started to surface...  finally, at our WM's.

-Bent ankles
-Caved in Chest Sculpt
-Pre-posed, unarticulated arms
-peewee pee-shooter
-non-removable helmet
-non-functioning pistol holster
-stupid face sculpt (arguable though, it is, at least, neutral)
-articulation style on the legs the company they STOLE it from had already abandoned due to how ****** it is designed
-barely removable vest (for once they use stiff plastic on an accessory they never should have)
-magical hovering holster that isn't sculpted to look attached to the belt

I think you can include the POTJ Fleet Trooper, but that's my point of view of course...  He looks better, but he's a piece of **** action figure at the end of the day IMO.

That said, the POTF2 RFT is easily among the worst figures in the modern line overall, and when you include the original POTF2 and whatnot, that's no small acheivement for a figure released a bit later than 1995 to make the all-time worst list.  It was attrocious even for a time when "not great" was passable.

I'd say he's even in the top 3 worst of all time...  Vintage to now.  That POTF2 Fleet Trooper sucks a nut, and quite hard.  POTJ RFT sucks though, and as you all know the Rebel Fleet Trooper is doomed to sucking...  It's his lot in life.

Though...  That Kubrick Fleet Trooper looks kind of cool. :)

Finally Wal-Mart got figures in here!  Holy ****.

Every store seems to have gotten the myserious 36 figure case in...  Lots of stuff already pegwarming.  Most WM's are now laden with Vaders, and out of anything any good.

Lots of Hoth Wave, Yoda's, Vaders...  the same every other store is stuck with.

I did get some Utie Clones though as a nice gift from my mom just because...  They were there, I was gonna skip them, but she picked them up instead.  Can't argue with spoiling moms.  :-[

Nor I.  I'll have to watch KM some since they're abundant here.

The $30 tag isn't TOO bad in the grand scheme of things.  If you took the 5 figures at a $5 value, that's $25 right there technically...  Given currently retail, the Clones come out to "fair", though not great prices...  The Anakin is just "extra" then.

If it were 5 Clones the set would be fantastically priced.  As it was I bought one for me and one for a Canucklehead and I passed on more due to price but sort of regret not getting a 2nd since a GOOD 501st Trooper never surfaced IMO.  The Tactical Ops wasn't common, or really any good, so it doesn't count to me.

I feel stupid over the Bruins remark.  I am still pondering why I thought they made the playoffs.  Of course, given the Pens have been out of it for a while now, obviously the papers barely mention Hockey unless it revolves around Crosby doing something good or the Arena...

That said, I'm throwing my support to NJ then.  I've always liked them too...  Don't know why, just do, and they're a good solid team (again) this year so why not.  I'd go wtih the Rangers if Jagr hadn't irked me so much before he left...

Depends...  They're Basket and Baseball focused right now, but at the right bars I go to I can push for them to change to ESPN or whoever is covering the playoffs this year.  I got confused with all the changes.

As far as Crosby getting ROTY, I agree with you on that Jeff.  I think that the main thing that makes me wish Sidney got it is that he has displayed amazing leadership.  Qualities that Lemieux showed his Rookie year and stuff...  I don't personally think Ovechkin showed similar qualities, whereas Crosby was practically taking the team by the reigns at 18, and posting point totals right up there with Ovechkin on a team that is slightly worse (not by a lot though, you're right).

I'm sure Ovechkin will get it...  probably, I don't know.  I'm bad at judging really, who am I kidding.  i thought we were going to be a dominant team this year, or at least competitive, so what do I know. :)  Then again most of the analysts thought the Pens would do well too till everyone realized D WAS important.

Anyway, something you might find interesting Brent...  Pens had one of the best attendance percentages of the NHL this year despite their record.  Not every game was a sell-out but many were and there were lots of season ticket sales...  Despite the ****** play of the team, the people gave support.  Now it's a matter of tax payers doing so by not voting for certain dickheads.

Today a rally was held addressing the 3 casino proposals...  1 is at Station Square which, in my opinion, is overdeveloped as it is at the moment.  The 2nd is planned for the North Shore between Heinz Field and PNC Park...  The 3rd proposal, which actually was the 1st one made ever, is the development of the lower Hill District where the current Melon Arena sits.  It is the ONLY plan the Penguins are backing even though the other 2 plans supposedly have a way to build the Arena.  However the 3rd plan the Pens are for will build the Arena 100% with private money...

Despite that obvious plus, the Allegheny County morons are STILL wanting the money to go to Station Square mostly (the North Shore deal is all but dead).  The guy who owns SS made contributions to the Governor so that's where he's pushing for it to go to.  The Gaming Commission is ultimately who decides though, and I'm really praying they give it to the Penguins.  It's a part of the city that simply needs the money more than the other two (obviously the North SHore with 2 new stadiums doesn't need it, and Station Square is a nightlife focal point in Pittsburgh that's overly crowded every weekend as it is, and worse come summer).

So that's where the Penguin's, and their future here, stands...  It may come down to them simply fearing the political backlash of losing our city one of its major sports franchises...  I just wonder how much they fear that.
