Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target sale = $5.00 for basic figures
« on: April 4, 2005, 03:00 PM »
Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but I was unaware that the first 56 figures were out already??

What I meant was that I bought 56 figures total - 1 to open, 1 to keep carded of the first 28 which was all they had at my local Target.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.   :-[

My wife let me head off to Wal Mart on Saturday and I went nuts!  I filled my cart wqith all I could find.  But then I started looking at them a little closer and put back R2-D2 and Yoda.  My Wal Mart only had 1-28  No Jedis around.  I got my unleashed as an earlty Birthday present.  Weee!

Glad you could make it out for some shopping, wasn't sure you'd get to go... AND Happy Birthday my South Dakotan friend!  Maybe you'll be back more now that a new movie is coming out...  ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Collection 1 Figures

I think its just the angle of that shot, but from the other pics we've seen of this, I think it is some sort of antennae coming from his back (backpack type thing?) or something, but I'm not sure.

Here's the EE picture - definitely an antenna of some sort...

Here's how I faired today...
Guess total = $576.52

Actual Total = $527.44

Since I took my reciept to Target totday to get a price adjustment, I can knock $53.14 off the total!

Actual Total = $474.30  Woo-Hoo!

Today at lunch, I brought in my reciept to get a price adjustment.  Thanks to the price adjustment, my RotS basic figure costs were reduced to:

Sale Price = $5.00 each
10% discount = -$0.50 each (I opened a Target Visa Acct in order to save 10% on my purchase  ;))
Target Coupon = -$1.00 each

Final Price = $3.73 each with the tax.

Right now, I'm VERY happy that Target could help me save some major cash on the 56 basic figures I bought Saturday!  :)

Welcome to JD!  Glad to see you finally made the switch - once you go JD, you never go back... or something.   :P

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Deluxe Figures

I don't see the point of Anakin/Vader deluxe (again with the movie accuracy and all)

The point of Anakin/Vader DLX figure is to mindlessly crank out meaningless figures because guys like JediMAC buy 3-4 of each and every one thus generating more $$$ for the Big H.    :P

I was wondering about Deluxe Grievous, is he much different than the first one or the Coll 1 #9 figure?

IMHO, the deluxe Grievous is a waste of $10.00  :(

The arms are much more posable in the basic figure version.  My basic version holds the sabers better and can be put in a lot more poses than the deluxe version.  I kind of like the "gritty" look of the deluxe version better, but it's not worth the extra $5 for a better paint job and "grapple hook" blaster.

If you bought the #9 Grievous, you're probably not missing out if you pass on the dlx version IMHO.

I was surprised to find this next wave of GH at Walmart during Midnight Madness.

I saw the signs of this wave (the OT sets with the RotS packaging) at a few stores, but none of the new sets anywhere.  I wasn't really expecting them to be out so soon, I was thinking next month...

Guess I will have to add them to the official "find this stuff" list.

Did you grab those too Jeff?

Nah, far too much other stuff to spend my $$ on today...

What the hell is up with  the 10-degrees-below-zero erect nipple on the battle droid?

It is for you to attach the "blast effect" to make it look like "he done got shot"!

Target cup sets were hit or miss around these parts, but the Micro Assortments were plentiful...

I happily grabbed my 3 sets - I like the Clone Cup set the best because he was one re-packaged figure that I didn't mind buying!    ;)

Anybody else get lucky?

Yeah I did and so did 4 others in MN :)

Count me in as another one of the lucky MN guys.  The one I was handed was minty-mint, so I was very happy to be able to get one so nice.

I ordered a second off Amazon today to score my opener, no fuss no muss and no risking the fact that TRU may not have them come the 10th...  :)

So, I'm really not interested in this set I guess.    :-\

I'm not a "one of everything" guy anymore, so I can pass on this and hope that when the new line is launched that I will be able to pick these figures up in a different form (like single carded).  Of course, that strategy could totally back-fire on me and 9 months from now I'll be kicking myself for NOT picking it up...

OK, I bought it...  Yeah, despite what I said about not being a "one of everthing" guy anymore, that ******* OCD kicked in again.  :-[

The cashier at Target today said to me as I wheeled up my cart full of 50+ RotS basic figures, "You're buying ALL of these figures?"

My wife (who came along for the ride) said "He's got a disease for these things  ::), " and then the cashier and my wife shared a laugh (at my expense).

If they only KNEW how right they were.  Maybe I do need to find a 12-step progam for my love of these little plastic figures...  :-\

Anyway, I figure now I've got one if I want it.  I can think it over and if I change my mind over the next few days, I can always sell it here or return it.  ;)

Here's how I faired today...
Guess total = $576.52

Actual Total = $527.44

My total was a bit smaller that I thought -

I saved some on the fact that there were only Figures 1-32 here in MN (that I saw), so it dropped me by 15 figures ($75 or so).  Plus, I got the Target coupon (another $20 savings).

However, I made up part of the the difference by grabbing the Wal-Mart EB Kit...  ::)

I know, I know - I'm a hippocrite because I said I didn't want it but the damn OCD kicked in.  I can always sell it later/return it if I change my mind.  :-\
