Revenge of the Sith / Re: Holo Yoda?
« on: March 30, 2005, 10:34 PM »
Well, nice to see that it's not just Lava Vader popping up on eBay early...  ::)

Holographic Yoda on eBay

The same seller has 13 up now, and there are quite more out there too.

And $50+ for these things?  Has everyone gone MAD?

I got that ad in last sunday's paper here in MN... you might want to stop into the local WM and see if they still have them laying around.

Sorry for the crappy pic, but taking pictures of newspaper ads is obviously not my camera's strong suit.  :(

edit - just checked and the ad is on-line at Wal-Mart.com too...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter
« on: March 30, 2005, 11:18 AM »
Oh, so instead of yet another Ep3 Jedi Starfighter repaint for this one, we get a repaint of a 3-yr old  Ep2 Jedi Starfighter for Plo's ship?

In fact, it looks a LOT like the piant job from Anakin's Clone Wars Starfighter slapped onto the Ep2 Starfighter...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Coupon... Some hope?
« on: March 30, 2005, 10:43 AM »
Does that include the Vader? Does that include Deluxe Figures? Does that include 12" and Unleashed Figures?

It would be great if it did - does anyone know if this coupon only applies to the basic $5.99 figures?

No one really knows at this point.   :-\

It sounds like their will be some sort of scan-sheet at the register that tells the cashier/register what to do... but it isn't really clear if it's just the basic figures or ALL figures.

I agree that that would be an even bigger bonus to the day if you got $1 off deluxe, unleashed, and 12" figures too!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart "Early Bird" Exclusive
« on: March 30, 2005, 10:40 AM »
But that should only be if you're a collector of EVERYTHING. You WANT the Early Bird Kit packaging variants (for example). If you don't care about what the packaging is then I would wait, 'cause come Jan. 2006 you ARE going to be pissed that you drove 40 miles to a WalMart to get a $30 empty box for figures that came four months later which were mass-released right before Christmas.

Yeah, I agree with you.  The only reason I'd buy that EB Kit now was if I was a packaging variant guy, but I'm not.  In fact, RotS has caused me (and a few others here  ;)) to totally re-think their collecting habits already.  This just helps move me a little farther along that chain, helping me to finally break my "one-of-everything disease".

So, I'm really not interested in this set I guess.    :-\

I'm not a "one of everything" guy anymore, so I can pass on this and hope that when the new line is launched that I will be able to pick these figures up in a different form (like single carded).  Of course, that strategy could totally back-fire on me and 9 months from now I'll be kicking myself for NOT picking it up...  ::)

I guess that is my biggest beef with this whole Early Bird kit - I don't like the idea of Hasbro trying to sell me a brand new figure line that I know nothing about and sight-unseen for $30.00 the same weekend I'm already spending hundreds of dollars on toys.

« on: March 30, 2005, 10:27 AM »
That's nice of them in a way, but it makes the coupon sorta redundant.

Well, I'm in the group that is hoping that maybe I'll be able to get a price adjustment after the fact...

Say I buy all my figures on 4/2 for $5.99 minus the $1 coupon = $4.99 each, right?

My receipt should look something like this:

087-06-1263     StarWars E3 C1     239.60
                         40 @ $5.99 each
087-06-1328     StarWars E3 C2     269.55
                         45 @ $5.99 each
                         Store Promo          -85.00

Well, what if you take the receipt to the CS desk on 4/3 and they can give you an adjustment from $5.99 to the sale price of $4.99?  It would then be possible that you may be able to save yet another dollar...

The thought of $3.99 RotS figures ($4.99 minus the $1 dollar coupon) is simply jaw-dropping...  :o

It may not work, but if the figures do turn out to be on sale I am totally going to try it.   ;)

When I first was reading of a basic "line relaunch" I had nightmares of the GI Joe Sigma Six line.

That's my first thought too, Brian.  But, I'm not entirely convinced they won't pull a scale switcheroo on us... Next January is a long way away...  :-\

I guess even with this news of a new/relaunched/whatever figure line, I am still not excited by the Early Bird news.

If the RS report is true, well then it means we are getting "new" ANH Luke, Leia, Chewie, and R2 as a part of the "relaunched" line...   more resculpts we dont need especially since we just got the BEST versions of those figures last year as vOTC.   ::)

Plus, I'm really not happy that in order to start collecting a brand new line that won't be out for 9 months, I have to make a special trip to a Wal-Mart 40 minutes away for the "tent" event...  talk about a rip-off way to get you to spend more money than you planned!  >:(

I'll be even MORE pissed when next January these "relaunched" figures are everywhere and I'll wonder why the heck it was so important to buy the damn EB kit waaaay back in April.   >:(

Gah, I'm done now or this will just turn into more ranting about what a stupid idea this is...

Yeah, maybe you guys do spend a LOT of $$$, but I'd like to thank you big-spenders...

If it weren't for my ability to show off that thread and say things like:

"Yeah honey, I know $1600 a year on SW toys sounds like a lot, but there's this guy Morgbug at JD who spent $7500 and another guy Dale who spent $9500!  Imagine if I'd spent that much on stuff..."

I'd spend a lot more time in the doghouse because of my love for little plastic figures...

So, thanks to you guys, I get out of the "hot water" I was previously in and everybody wins!   ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Coupon... Some hope?
« on: March 29, 2005, 11:27 PM »
I don't hold a Target card, nor do I ever get anything from them in the mail, yet I got one, so yay me.

This is a mystery to me. ???

You DO have an Insider subscription, yes?

I think it's been mentioned elsewhere that they can somehow just track who's purchased stuff at Target stores with the debit or credit cards, and send them out the coupon.

Yeah, like maybe someone got an e-mail directly from TARGET 2 weeks ago that explained exactly how they decided how to send out the coupons...   :P

*cough * cough *

If you are NOT a Target Visa card holder then there is a 100% chance Target got your info from the Fan Club and Lucasfilm...  ;)

One thing I hope they not doing is using the address that hypespace has for you.

Sorry, DK but that is EXACTLY where Target got the info from...

I'm going to go ahead and call this an "other collectible"...

I think Scott's comment was directed at this guy...  ::)

What about the early leaks a few of us were lucky enough to score?  Does that technically count, since they're supposed to be April 2nd releases?

As for my estimate, I can bring it down by about $25 since I was lucky enough to get the Target coupon in the mail today.   :)

I'll definitely be headed to Target to get the most out of my coupon...
