Hey Smarty,

Your customs have radically improved in the time I've been away! I love all of these, great work!

I'm pressed for time as usual, so as much as I'm dying to give a breakdown of each figure, I'm just going to have to say that the parts use and paint apps on these are excellent, and very imaginative. Great job, Jedistyle!

Saga Collection '06 / Re: State of the Hobby

Gotta back up Doc Padawan here...kids say the damndest things. I was in a Wal-Mart recently, and a hispanic kid that couldn't have been more than seven was whining for a Batman costume. His sister, who looked even younger than he, said with a voice full of scorn, "You can't be Batman. Batman's white."

I know sister's can crush a dream pretty handily, but even a hardened cynic like me was pretty blown away.

I'm at 42. I thought I had stopped at 22, but when my local Wal-Mart had an end-cap filled with them clearanced at $1.50, I went nuts...

I think the state of the hobby is strong...I think the reason you're seeing so many figures hanging on the pegs is that Hasbro is doing a better job of getting figures to retail, in enough numbers that the basement-dwelling scalpers that live on their sisters couches can't afford to hoard them all. With a plentiful supply at retail, and less moms on the hunt since it's a non-movie year, the figures don't net much profit for the scalpers...so they've moved on to other lines like Marvel Legends.

I've never been more excited about the line than I am for 2007's offerings.

The pleasure slave is very well done, but that Gand is awesome. I love seeing one of these guys in black...

Simply amazing! The sheer work and detail that clearly went into this are nothing short of incredible! Could be a movie miniature, it looks so good...

Don't look under the loincloth, Phruby! That's where madness lies.

Great looking Twi'lek, and a really creative use of a figure I'd never given a second thought.

Hey Ruprecht,

I'm actually in the pic with PPDK and Amy Allen, but cropped it as I decided I didn't want to be famous on the internet. Plus I'm leaning across the table at a really odd angle, and the whole thing just looks bizarre. Besides, she's really the one worth looking at. :D

Funny thing is, Temuera Morrison and I were at the same hotel, and I actually ran into him a few more times. On Sunday after Con, My friends and I ran into him again and actually hung out with him for awhile and talked. He's a very interesting guy, and unbelievably nice. He took a whole slew of pics with us, which I'm still waiting to be developed. We invited him to dinner with us, but he had a plane to catch shortly thereafter. He really could not have been more pleasant.

All right, here we go. Here are some of the people who couldn't wait to rub elbows with our purple pimp daddy...

So listen, candypants, what time you get outta here? Kenobi, Ramada Inn, room 212. That's all I'm sayin'.

A moment to visit with fellow pimp Mac Afro, and drink some radioactive pimp juice!

Apparently the Pimp Daddy likes 'em a little...exotic.

Even Twilek's can't resist our purple-besuited friend's charms.

A quiet moment of reflection at Seaport Village, and a chance to have a drink for himself, and one (or twelve) for his homies.

Watch that index finger, buddy.

Try that Order 66 crap now that my back isn't turned, beeyatch! PIMP SLAP!!!

And finally, the Pimp Daddy beats me to the punch when it comes to picking up one of the cutest ladies at the show...

Hey all,

Sorry it took me so long to post...I've had a million things going and have had very little time for anything hobby-related of late. (Short of hitting the stores every morning, of course!)

Pimp Daddy is fine, he's been sitting on my shelf next to my Master Replica Stormtrooper rifle, and is readying for his trip back to Quazar this week. I hate to see him go, but I must admit hanging out with him and his posse of "fly honeys" as he calls them, can be rather exhausting.

Pics will be up as soon as I install photoshop on my new PC and size them. And believe me, there's a few good ones. ;D

Hopefully in October I can update my customs thread, assuming it still exists...

All right...The big purple Pimp Daddy found his way to my crib today and tomorrow, is off to San Diego with me for Comic-Con. May his adventures be grand ones!

I don't know, Morgbug...you make a valid point, but I think it goes both ways. A lot of kids either play the games or have older siblings who do, so some of the harder core SW kids will probably be into Revan, as well as some who don't know who he is exactly, but like him because he's a bad guy with a lightsaber.

The best example I can offer is a lot of kids who buy from a friend of mine were pretty hot for Scorch when he came out, and he hooked them up as long as they opened it right there and proved they were going to play with the toy, which is, of course, what it's meant for. (Shocking to some, I'm sure...)

Granted, kids dig clones, but as my friends kids will attest, Jedi and Sith are equally play-worthy. Hell, my nephew runs around with the Jedi figures in his hand like it's the handle of his own saber, making swooshing sounds the whole time.

Besides, since Star Wars won't be hot next year, the figures should be plentiful and the scalpers should move back to Sports and Hot Wheels, right?  ;)

Bottom line though, I agree with you that all 25 should be given serious consideration. After all, they are the 25 all of fandom voted for...
